Here is one that I could use help on. I have a system with a Pronto Pro controling a Panasonic Plasma. I got discrete codes from the file section and they work ( Almost). While in programming and in IR edit section I can test the IR code all day for "ON" and it work fine. Once I download it to the Pronto it only work 40% of the time. The rest or the time it turns the plasma on then in 5-6 seconds turns it back off. We tried reloading the code 5 or 6 ( hundred ) times, we tried different pronto's, covering the lens after sending the code everthing we can thing of ( except danicing naked under a full moon) (Different problem never mind .) hehe The toggle on/off works fine. I have no idea !!! Thanks

Dale, I don't have a solution, just a possible cause. You say it works reliably through the software, but not on the remote? When hooked to the computer, there are slight timing differences when testing IR. These differences don't happen in the remote. Usually it works the other way around, codes are less reliable when tested using the software. Jim L

Dale, You said that you've tried to cover the lens up on the remote? I think it's safe to assume that you covered it up pretty good. Because you know how to dance naked under the moon.... But anyways.
Since you did cover it up, and the tv still turns off. Well then it could be a bad code for YOUR tv. It all depeneds on when your tv was made, and when the code was made. Even though you got it from here. Since there are no dates on the code's page. We can just assume that they are old, like for the first gen of plasma tv's. Or new for this gen on plasma tv. We don't know.
Also, you don't have any other commands in the "on" button? And does this happen only when you push the "on" button, or does it happen as well when you have the on button alaised to a macro. ie watch tv. Which will send signels out to the tv, power on, correct input. And turn on the cable box. And stuff like that.

Dale, just a thought: you mentioned that you have access to several prontos. Have you tried learning the signal sent via computer onto another remote? May sound weird, but so does your problem... ;-) André

also, did you try uploading the program from the remote and looking at what commands are actually there? Maybe you see one thing in the ccf but another ends up in the remote. Opening the ccf won't show you that, but uploading from the Pronto will. If that problem is even possible.

Man, I like your style, Ernie . . . Not only do you dream up a solution to a problem . . . you even dream up a way to cause the problem!

Mike -
Yes, I know about those hints. What I really meant is that all of your quite humorous replies to questions would make very entertaining reading. Just keep them coming!
