I've created a button with a sequence of commands to turn on a bunch of lights and the TV in the morning. I want to configure it to launch at 6:00 am Monday to Friday.

In the action tab, I select timer and fill out the info. My confusion is with the Timer's start action.

Do I create an alias to itself and possibly cause a loop or I need to create a second button to call the 1st ?

The start action is always an alias to another button that contains the actions to be performed.

Figured it out. I can create 1 "Timer" button wiht multiple timer actions; each with an aliases to another button.

Thanks for the reply...

A time will only take ONE button. This button can have one command, or a macro of commands. In your case it must have a macro of commands.

Each timer, really has two settings. The start and the end timer. Which can function by them selfs.

I have my system set up to do this

400am turn on my system and play a cd.

401 turn off cd player.

430 turn on cd player again.

440 turn up the volume even more.

Of course this takes up two timers. With me using both the start and end times. Here's the weird part. For one timer, which turns on the system the first time, and plays the cd the second time. Are one button(timer)
And the one that turns off the player, and turns up the volume are the second timer.
So if you really think about it, both buttons(timers) are running at the same time. So right there tells you that the start and end times work apart from each other. Even though their in the same button. Also, of course, you can have different functions to the start and end times. They don't have to be alaised to the same button/macro.

If you want the lights to turn on Monday threw Friday, on a weekly bais, don't forget to check the "weekly" box. Or else when it excutes, it will dissapear, and needs to be reprogramed again.

Hope this helps some.

Thanks again...

I set up 1 button with a timer action. This action aliases another button (which is really a macro) to turn everyhting on at 6:00 am. Will know tomorrow morning if it all works.

Thanks for the "weekly" tip.

You really get up at 4:00 am...sounds painful !

It's amazing how much "sleep" your subconcious can cram into that half hour, isn't it Rob?

When I was in college I did some messing around with my internal clock, and found that if I disrupted my sleep 4 times, spaced 15 minutes apart at 2 hours before I wanted to get up, I felt much more refreshed with only 4 hours of sleep than I did when I got an uninterrupted 8 hours. Everyone's internal clock is different and can change with the season and with your diet. Not to mention frequent inter-TimeZone travel.

But if you can figure your clock out you can find your optimum sleep cycle and vary it to suit your needs with similar tricks.

Type, quality, brightness, length and N/S/E/W Source Direction of light during the day is another way to alter your sleep cycle and mood. Light Therapy really does work.

Yes it is.

When I was in college I did some messing around
with my internal clock, and found that if I disrupted
my sleep 4 times, spaced 15 minutes apart at
2 hours before I wanted to get up, I felt much
more refreshed with only 4 hours of sleep than
I did when I got an uninterrupted 8 hours.

That is something that I might try to do when I get my new receiver.
Right now I am using my tv's alarm. In which is a pain to set up in the morning. Because I have to use my eyes, which are that good with out my glasses, specaily in the morning. To look at my remote, to touch the correct buttons. To reprogram my tv to turn back on 30 minutes later or so.

Besides, if you've noticed from my postings. I don't normaly go to sleep until 11 or 12 at night. In which takes me like 30 minutes or more to actually to go to sleep. When I come home from work, which is 130 or 2, depends what day. I get my "real" sleep. I probably takes me 10 minutes if that for the afternoon "nap" But I feel more rested on my nap, than I do on my sleep. Probably because my nap in the afternoon is about 1 to 3 hours. With NO time to get up. And I get up myself with no alarm. But my sleep at night, has to be disrupted.

So when I get my new receiver. I will try that. Set up to turn on every 15 or 20 minutes during the night. Thanks Mike for the idea.
