Hi,

I have a Yamaha 795 receiver. I have tried multiple times to learn the mute and volume up/down hard buttons to no avail. It seems to be learning ok. I see what look slike clean code going in. The remote seems to have taken the code in, but when I go to my receiver, the buttons don't seem to work for adjustment.

I have gone through all of my other devices that I am sampling and removed any other codes from those devices for the hard buttons. I have looked to see if there are any macros (which could be resetting it?) and have not seen anything.

I am wondering if the "rotating device" dial on my Yamaha Remote is not sending proper code or if it confuses the Pronto in any way.

Anyone else successfully get these to work? I would think some people have since I have seen a few CCfrs with the 795. What would be great is if someone can cut and paste their vol +/- and mute code here so I can compare.

Thanks!

You could download a CCF and check it out yourself, or cut them right into your program.

Thanks! I did try that but for whatever reason I wasn't seeing the IR. I was looking at the wrong spot. I haven't tried the code yet, but it definitely is different. My "learned" code was literally only 1 line of hex, where what I am seeing in another CCf is more like 8-10 lines of hex. I think the Yamaha Universal remote was not acting properly (I did use fresh batteries). anyways, off to try my new cut-and-paste code.....

You said that the oem remote has a rotating volume control? Well there is your problem right there. For each "click" the remot sends out the ir codes. So when you rotate it to learn the ir code for the pronto. You are really sending that code more than once. There for resulting in a dirty code. Because you are "learning" more than one code into a learned code.

No, you are incorrect. I meant that I have a rotating dial on the yamaha remote to select the "active" device (i.e., amp, DVD, CD), etc.......

I did not appear to get "dirty" code. I didn't get enough code.....

Nonetheless, the cut and pasted code worked beautifully in my CCF. Now on to perfecting my devices and then building a home page with macros....

Thanks for everyone's help!

Here's a picture of my Yamaha remote:

Did you ever solve your problem? I have a Yamaha RX-620 with the same remote an RAV214, at least it looks the same, although mine is black.

I have a similar problem the thing will not learn the vol - or +.

Frank,

My last message said that i got the codes to work when I had cut and paste code from someone else's CCF file. Something about the way my Yammy remote was sending IR does not seem to learn correctly on the pronto.
