I am currently running Setup, Version 0,1,0,4 under Windows 98. I ordered a new PC today with XP, Home Edition. Will I need to download a new version of Setup? If so will it update my CCF automatically when I load it into Setup? Thanks for the guidance.

All editors work fine with XP. However, you probably won;t be able to learn codes directly from the editor (this mostly happens with NT/2000/XP).

You should be using the current version of the editor Touch Screen Setup V2.04.

The CCF is the same no matter what version of the editor you use.

The CCF for a 5000 is the same no matter what version of the editor you use.

I am using a Marantz RC5000 1Mb (Setup V2.3, Sys V4.8, App V5.1) and have just updated to Win XP SP1. I was previously using ME OK.
Now I cannot get my remote to talk to my PC at all, via serial COM1 or using my serial to PDA USB, (I read elsewhere that people are having trouble with serial to USB connectors). Does anyone have any ideas?
I usually run an infrared device on COM1 and think I have managed to tell XP not to run this.

Gaz,

I just spoke to a tech. rep. at Marantz and he indicated that, as Peter says above, the only difference between running Setup under Windows 98 and Windows XP is that you cannot learn codes from other remotes directly into Setup. You have to learn the code into the remote and then upload it to Setup. He further explained that the proper procedure after you have installed XP is to download the latest version of Setup and then upload your current CCF from the remote to Setup.

In order to connect to my remote, I MUST turn OFF my PDA software (in my case "Hotsync" from Palm), this means going to the small icon in the lower right tray (By the clock) and right clicking and closing Hotsync there. For some reason it (the PDA) seems to have a priority link to the Com ports. I'm running Win 2000.
