HELP.
I am at my friend's office, trying to get an RC5200 to work via RF.
I have the following devices: Pioneer 50" plasma. Sony DVD/VCR Hughes DirecTV receiver.
When I am in IR mode, everything works fine.
I have tried enabling RF on various different channels, with no luck.
I have set the Master properties to RF, and then set each device individually. I have use the "RF IR" menu in the pronto itself to swtich from RF to IR and back to RF. In IR mode, everything works, if RF, nothing works.
I have tried putting the RF blaster directly in front of the equipment with no IR emitters connected, and the front of the print sheilded, with no luck.
I have tried shielding the equipment (it's in a cupboard) with the IR emmiters attached, and still no luck.
About the only think I can come up with is that the RX77 is faulty. I have a buddy with a spare one, but it will take me a week to borrow it and drive back down to my friend's place.
I have searched the forums, but am not sure what else to try...
The RX77 does have an LED light up with I plug in the power supply. The power supply for the RC and the RC charger are identical, and I have tried switching them, with no luck.
Does ANYONE have ANY ideas?!
Thanks in advance!

Nick, If you're using TSS v1.0.14. Set ALL your DEVICES to RF and see what happens. If this works, then the problem is probably that your source codes (not aliases) are located in a device set to IR. If you're using TSS v2.04, set your Master (system) properties to IR (which allows both RF or IR). With this version, setting system properties to RF only allows IR - which is dumb, dumb, dumb. Jim L

Jim.
Thanks for the tip, I'll definately give it a try.
Yes, I've been using TSS v2.04. I agree with your dumb, dumb, dumb statement.
I just wish there was better documentation for this stuff.
Oh well.
Thanks again.

HELP.
Okay, I went back to my friend's office last week.
I set the master properties to IR. I set a single device properties to RF. It no longer works.
About the only solutions I have left right now are to buy a new RX77 receiver, or to call Marantz directly.
Does ANYONE have any ideas?

Well it should work, I can think of 3 possibilites. 1) All your codes are stored on macro pages and you need to set MACRO PROPERTIES to RF as well. 2) You don't really have v2.04 and should set System Properties to RF. You might try this anyway since the remote might have the old firmware. Reflash the firmware while you're at it. 3) It's been reported that sometimes the system and or device properties "don't take". In this case you need to set them "on the remote itself". Change a device setting and then put it back to RF. If all this fails, the base is probably broke. Does the LED on the base flash when you transmit? If not, it's not receiving an RF signal. Jim L

Hey Jim, thanks for the feedback.
1. My IR codes are under the same device as the Panel. ie. I have a device called DVD. It has a panel called MAIN which as pretty buttons. It has another panel calleed [IR] which contains all the IR codes for the DVD player. The MAIN panel calles the buttons on the [IR] panel.
2. I downloaded the software when I started this programming project, and I'm pretty sure I have the latest versions. I also flashed the BIOS on the remote. I can certainly do this again, but I doubt it'll make a difference. (Boy, would I like to be wrong on this.)
3. Yes, I tried changing things back and forth on the remote itself.
4. Hmm, kinda starting to think that way myself. I'll pick up another RX77 and try to go down during business hours - that way I can call Marantz and cry should I have any more problems.
Question: Has anyone every called Marantz tech support - do they help with these issues at all?

Never called Marantz support myself, but I've gotten the IMPRESSION that they like you to go through the authorized dealer and don't like to talk to end users. I'd try it anyway. Jim L

UPDATE: FIXED.
Dang I hate this one. Having played around with this one for a LONG time, I finally broke down and purchased an 2nd RX77. The new one worked just fine.
Thanks to everyone for their input.
