My client's pronto pro won't learn any commands. I used ProntoEdit to create all the devices and buttons and have uploaded the files to the remote but none of the buttons will learn a damn thing. It simply fails every time. I've tried 'changing brands' but it says that the remote doesn't have that info and asks if I want to try a different device. I've tried dl'ing several ccf's but none of them do what I need (my client's system is not your standard home theater setup. His gear is all Sony ranging from the 60's to current. There are 14 sources and several control units {recievers, switches, etc}).

Either his remote is buggy or there's something I'm missing here. And as I'm sure you all know, the 'wonderful' manual included with the pronto is pretty much useless beyond the most obvious functions.
Any help will be much appreciated.

Are they being learned correctly???????

1 Is the owner pointing the oem remote to the correct spot on the pronto pro? (I would say the tail end, but I don't have the pro so I don't know where the learning eye is)

2 Is he pushing and HOLDING the oem's button until the Pro says "ok" and beeps?

3 Are the batteries, specaily in the oem, nice and freash?

4 Does he have any type of ir device in the room and can be sending ir signels? Lights, sunlight, and stuff like that.

5 Are the oem and pro with in a inch of each other, or ten inches. Best way is ten inches apart, at least that much.

Pretty much that is all that I can think of. I am sure there are other's but I can't think of them.

man, I can't believe that. I've been banging my head against the wall trying to figure this out when all it was is that I was pointing the remote at the wrong end of the pronto. Your help was awesome, thanks a bunch.

1) Are you pointing the OEM Remote at the correct end of the Pronto?

2) Are you holding the OEM Remote's Teaching Button down until the Pronto beeps & confirms?

3) Are ALL the batteries in All the Remotes new/fully charged?

I've tried 'changing brands'

4) This sounds like you're attempting to use the UDB. Are you wanting to use Data Base Codes or Learned Codes?

I've tried dl'ing several ccf's but none
of them do what I need (my client's system is
not your standard home theater setup).

5) Rarely will a Downloaded CCF be exactly what you want, you must extract what is useful and tweak to your liking. (There IS no standard HT Setup)!

6) Have you ever done a comples set-up like this before?

Click on the links in the box below, in particular you will find : the FAQ, Reviews, Play With It, Phases, Planning and ALIAS.CCF helpful when just starting out.

And remember when you ask questions to be specific in your Heading and very specific in your question, including precisely what your problem/question is and what model Remote you have and what OS you are using on your PC.

Also, don't forget the Search Forum at the bottom of the Page. It may seem slow but it is VERY thourough and don't be mislead by the "0%" you will see on the first screen, it is only a progress marker.
