Does anyone have a color icon for the "Maxell Man?"
(...the fellow in the armchair with the speaker blasting in front of him...), or a color icon for an Audio System?

Thanks,
Harris

What about the RCA dog (with the cone around his head listening to an old 77RPM vinyl record player)?

Well, here's a couple of examples. The dog's name is Nipper, and he's "listening for his masters voice". Too bad that such a great old company as RCA was taken over by Thompson Electronics - and now produces mostly CRAP.

Perhaps their new logo should be this:

Jim, as always, thanks for the reply. The pig says it all, indeed. The standard image is perfect for a ccf image of "audio on..."

You are right...Thompson's quality in all but HD video does seem to be quite lousy.

On another issue, re the new firmware on the 9200. DL works every time even without the LCD being on (though, I hadn't tried it on the previous TSS software).

Re RF, did you note in a recent post that if using RF, you need to set the Home/Props. section to RF, even if you are using IR on it, in order for RF to work on any of the CCF's devices?

Also, have you experimented with different ID/Channel settings (with appropriate changes made on the RF module), in order to get more reliable transmission?

I'll have to check that out. On the previous version, it was hit and miss.

Hmm, I downloaded from the European website and it works the OTHER way. If I set system properties (home) to RF, RF won't work AT ALL (i.e. it's IR only). Setting it to IR allows transmission of either RF or IR. Maybe there's some difference in the version on the US website???

No I haven't. The only reason I use the extender is for a VCR which is at the bottom of my equipment stack. Using IR, I would have to sit up to control it. In my situation, and using the emitter leads, the default settings work fine.

Jim, to my understanding, the two DL's (Euro and USA) are identical. Indeed, as of the 18th, the firmware update was posted on the Marantz USA site.

If the 2 versions are one and the same, then I guess the Home page props should be at IR even if using RF.

I believe the different id/channel settings will affect the frequency of RF, and thus some settings may work better than others in different environments. I would like to confirm this theory, however.

I don't believe that there are multiple frequencies involved. The manual states that the RF frequency is 418 MHZ plus or minus 100 KHZ, in other words just a single RF frequency. I think it's more likely that the remote transmits a short preamble (prior to the actual code) to direct the signal to a particular extender. Hardware wise this would be easier than separate frequencies. I don't know for sure however.
