I have a TSU-2000 and I keep getting a Error Uploading device, or not a RC device file Error every time I try, it will go through most of the upload before I get any error. I’ve tried using every version I can get my hands on and they all do the same (Pronto Edit V2, V4.0.3, V4.0.5) my Work Computer will (V4.0.3) work fine, so the only difference I can see is the actual computer both use Windows 98se.
Any Ideas of what could cause this, I am aware of the download trick (touch the screen just before download) for v4 Pronto Edit software, and I tried this for the Upload also just in case, but nothing seems to work, it either doesn’t recognize the ccf as a proper file format or it stops in the middle to last part of the upload and gives me the Error Uploading message.
Ive tried messing with the comm port settings but that didn't work either, right now its at default N,8,1 Xon Xoff.

Open PE 4.05, open your ccf. Click on the File tab at the top, scroll down to Pack And Go. Follow the commands. Close PE, then open the pack and go feature. Again, follow the commands.
This is a first, at least for me, given this type of fix it. I just would like to know if it would work. If it does, then I'll use it to tell others who have the same problem.
I know that you've said that you know about turning on the screen. But for me it does work, but only if I have the screen on until the download actaully starts. When I first did it months ago, I thought I only had to push the back light and release it. But instead now I push and hold the backlight button until the pc says "Downloading ccf into RC device" Then I release it. Works every time now.

I'll try the "Pack and Go" thing, although I still think there is some other problem, I can Up & Download all day at my work computer, but every since I upgraded my Home computer it wont upload anything compleatly, it will almost get to the end of uploading before I get one of these Errors. This leads me to beleive that it is a Hardware issue, or I forgot something academic about the PE4 softwear loading.
New Computer Hardware List:
Gigbyte 7vrXP Mother AMD XP2000 (slightly overclocked with Easy Tune4) 512M PC133 DDR Mem dual IBM Desk Star (720RPM) 60G drives in a RAID Stripe 0 configuration (could this be a problem?)
Is there any way that anyone knows of to chect the proper operation of the comm ports?

Well since you've upgraded your pc. You should repair or reinstall PE 4.05 See if that would do anything. Rob

Have you tried using Tonto?
It does appear that many people have no trouble downloading but have some trouble uploading. Larger CCFs seem to make it worse.
If you are uploading just to get some learned codes, I suggest you learn your codes into a tiny CCF, upload that, and merge it into your main CCF.
You posibly have an older serial port that does not support the higher speed used by the Pronto.
