My RC5000 won't charge fully. The charge light just goes out after about 5-10 minutes. Is this a known problem? Is it the battery or the unit? Thanks.

I believe this is a problem with the batteries or a flakey charger. I sent my remote in under warranty for the problem and had the battery replaced. A couple of months later I started having the same problem.

Now I just use AA alkalines and everything is fine.

Joshua.

These problems have been around forever. Before searching this site and the endless discussions on this subject, try removing the battery, then slightly bend the flexible contacts towards the interior of the battery chamber (with a paper clip or something similar),clean all contacts on the battery and the charger (with a pencil eraser), scrape the contacts with a razor blade or other sharp item, and re-insert the battery making sure you VERY firmly press the battery in starting with the end that depresses the springs back, then pushing the battery down (still VERY firmly), then letting the springs push the battery towards the other end. Wow, what a mouthful! These are the most common "fixes" for this problem.
