I tried to make a cable using the diagram in the FAQ, but the pin had 3 wires and the computer plug had 4. I tried matching up the colors, and leaving one out, but nothing worked. Anyone know how to make this work. As you can see I'm running into all kinds of difficulties. Thanks for the help in so far!

Hello,

Use a multimeter (ohm position) to check where go each wire on the serial connector (usually, pin numbers are engraved on the plastic very near the pins).

When you will have located the 3 proper wires, connect them accordingly to the jack.
