I just acquired a TS 1000 off e-bay and I am trying to get it programmed. I noticed the downloadable files on this site, but I am not sure how to use them. Can anyone explain exactly what they are and how I can use them? Also, how do I use pronto edit. Thanks.

Jay,

Can't really "explain how to use Pronto Edit" -- way too broad a question. Go to the files are and download the software manual. Then download and read the FAQ (link at bottom of page). You can also download some configuration (ccf) files and use the software's emulator to get ideas as to how things flow.

Jay, the files here are peoples configurations, Theses are what people created for their remotes. The files are zipped, so you need to unzip them and then open them in ProntoEDit. Most files contain the user interface (nice buttons and good layout people use) and the IR commands. How to use them is easy, you open up the file and take whatever you want. You can use the by component area to find the commands for your devices, you can look for one that looks cool to you. like Jim said, open a few to get ideas, it is the best way to learn

Is it possible to download the commands of components in order to avoid programming each button.

yes, if you look at the component section you get the CCFS broken down by model number, so if you download the CCF and then delete everything else then you can merge it into your CCF. If you don't find the same model , try something similar, manufacturers tend to use the same codes on the same type of equipment
