I know, I know its been discussed many times. I gotta tell ya! That thing is an engineering marvel. What a peice of junk. It took me two weeks and numerous search and reads on here to finally get mine working properly. I had to whip out my precision screwdriver set(5.99 at Radio Shack) and bend the gold prongs up and out on my TSU2000($225) to make my charger($50) work. I then had to insert the battery over and over and over until I got just the right insertion angle. I had to use the universal remote that came with my DSS receiver. That sucked.

I have to agree with the fact that the DS1000 is not a money saving measure but definitely a convenience factor and a definite gadget factor. But it is a very good idea very poorly executed. Anyway, enough ranting. Thanks for the good threads on this and another reason to use the search rather than just post the same ?'s over and over.

Yeah, you're right PIA to get working right initially. Just FYI the charger on the color versions is much better. The only bad thing is the connecter, you have to tilt 45 degrees to connect or disconnect. Also seems kind of flimsy too.

Then again, maybe not much better - just a different set of concerns.
