Hi! I have recently got a ProntoPro (TSU6000) and am eager to start programming it. But, I have a few problems with it...

1. When charging the batteries (unit in cradle): after a while the leds on the cradle starts to blink... is this normal? Thing is that the screen is not receptible when in the cradle but the hard buttons are. Now and then the blinking stops and the leds are just on. Also, should the unit be on all the time in the cradle?

2. When out of the cradle the unit works fine for a while, especially if it has been reset. But, it will start up every now and then by itself... no timers or macros are set. This seems to me as unorthodox behaviour. This also means that the batteries will discharge rather rapidly.

3. Outside the cradle the screen will, after a while, stop reacting to touch. The hard buttons will still work though.

Please let me know if you know any remedy for this! I have downloaded the latest TSU6000 software and updated the unit. It says that the software update works ok.

Best Regards,

Rikard

Rikard,

1) The lights shouldn't flash while in the cradle. Flashing lights indicate a problem. They should be on (charging) or off (fully charged). The screen should be responsive and usable while in the cradle. The exception would be if the battery is drained and the lights aren't on solid.

2) The Pro has been reported to turn itself on (very briefly) at midnight according to it's clock. Anything else is definitely not normal.

3) Again and indication of a problem.

You might try reflashing the firmware again. If that doesn't help, I would assume the remote (and maybe the charger) is defective.

Thanks for the feedback! The really strange thing is that the different parts seems to work ok, but the awakening of the unit and the unresponsiveness of the screen are temporary problems (still renders the unit unusable). I get a feeling that it is a software problem but this should be cured by downloading new software...

Any other comments? I have downloaded the software, I have reset the unit thouroghly and also left it without the battery. Is there anything more drastic that I can do?

I would try Philips or the place you bought it. The unit might be defective (loose contact)

When you say you downloaded the software, are you talking about your CCF file? What Jim is asking you to do is reflash your firmware. In the tools menu of PE you should have an update firmware selection. The latest firmware for the 6000 is SYS 1.4, APP 1.4. If you have done this and are still having the problems you describe then I agree you may have a defect in your unit and should contact your dealer for a replacement.

Mine flashes sometimes after it is charged. Have you done a calibration on the screen? If it is not calibrated the screen will exibit strange behavior. Make sure to use something blunt not your finger.

Thanks for all your suggestions! Yes, I also mean the firmware. I have not yet come as far as to create a CCF-file... and I have also calibrated the screen, using a PDA pen. So, I guess I will have to return it. I had hoped not to have to do this since I bought the ProntoPro off eBay (refurbished) and I live in Sweden... guess I will have to send it to the US for repair. I have mailed Philips to see if this could be avoided and that I could return it to a Swedish dealer but I am not that hopeful.

Best Regards,

Rikard

You might try to reset it. In the battery compartment there is a small hole. Push a paper clip in it to reset it. Then it should reboot.
