I know about them, tried them all, and was here when they came about. But there are a few differences
1) these games take minutes to play
2) depending on your CCF you can stop and come back (i.e. using the macro/device buttons to switch between play and remote)
3) these are not action games

Not that I am against the idea (actually with the new PCF format on the 3000 we might be able to make some better games for the Pronto). But I will be honest, I am a bit of a purist, that I think any remotes job is to control, and trying to add too much past that point is detrimental. It is like the guys that like PDAs they always say "yes but it can also be an address book, agenda....., that is why I would rather have a PDA then a Pronto" but the fact (at least to me) is that if you use the remote for all that, either you have a remote that is always in the wrong place (it is at your office while someone wants to watch TV) or a PDA that is never on you.

Anthony - fully agree with your view about focusing a product. Swiss knives are good - but only used occassionally. I hope Philips has made sure the control part of this incredibly good. I really do.

"or download thousands of existing files from an “active internet community"" [Link: remotecentral.com]

Are they talking about remote central ? or that dummy at pronto edit dot com ? if he is even around anymore .

GET WITH IT PHILIPS THIS IS WHERE IT'S AT

hmmm maybe the free speach on this forum is why they wont list it .

I wonder if Daniel took this site down for awhile if it would affect philips bottom line ? I'm sure it would .

I'm going to call my distributor and see what their cost to me is. (sorry can't post it here but if you are in the buis. you can find out also)

my midwest dealer friend told me that Philips will have an IPronto portal for application downloads. They showed this apparently at CEDIA.

Daniel - do you know what the IPronto portal is?

My sentiments exactly, Andrea. But I really don't like the idea of giving up the hard joystick on my Marantz RC9200. That could cause me to take a pass.

Thanks,

Nick

Not out until end of year, at soonest, per Philips CS, and per a distributor locally.

Some reported early on that a more expensive, larger version would subsequently be offered (someone on this thread called it a Zap Top). Did anyone at CEDIA hear of two models?

Thanks,

Nick
