Introducing FlexibleTheater™ for the 9200!!! The most
FLEXIBLE and EXPANDABLE ccf ever!!!!! Based on the excellent Mac OS
X interface which provides a Standardized appearance for ALL Device and Macro
Panels. But wait, there's MORE!!! It also uses a Menu for the navigation
of Devices and Macros! The Menus are displayed on their own Panel
so that you don't have to create duplicate Device Panels for navigation.
(Unlike so called "Easy" ccf's that require you to create DOZENS of
Device panels.)

"But I have more than four sources!", you say? NO PROBLEM!! The
benefit of using a computer interface is that you can use a scroll bar to
scroll through as many panels of Devices as you want, OR you can use a
"Listview" style format and fit NINE or more devices on ONE panel!!

"I have more than 16 TV channels that I watch and I don't want to have
to use a tiny button screen to enter the numbers by hand. What can
I doooo." you whine? NO PROBLEM!! FlexibleTheater™ uses
a "root" channel panel that can list channel groups by genre or family member.
Touching one, will jump to that list of channels. By using
the scroll bar you can have as many channels in a group as you want! The
"root" panel is only one button away from any channel list.

FlexibleTheater™ uses "standard" button sizes on ALL Device
and Macro panels. Just say NO to tiny button panels! Each Device
has a maximum of three tabs each for quick navigation. Buttons are
grouped on each Tab according to function so that you don't have to jump
back and forth between panels to perform common operations.

Friends and family can't remember what all the Hard buttons are used
for on each Device? NO PROBLEM!! Each Device or Macro that uses
the Hard buttons has a button in the top right corner of the Panel that
will display a Panel showing all the key assignments for the device! Well,
isn't that conveeeenient.

"That all sounds nice, but is that all it does?" Heavens to Betsy
NO! It also comes with an "Application Suite"!! What's that,
you ask? It's a group of six, count em, SIX "Applications"!!!!

1. TV Guide - allows you to list weekly programs
for each day of the week! Each day is a scrollable list, so add as
many programs as you want!! Touching a program in the listing will
change the channel and Jump to the TV device panel.

2. Directory/Rolodex - List all your friends
and business contacts' phone, address and even photo!

3. Photo Album - Display pictures of friends,
family or even vacations!!

4. Calendar - Includes monthly photos and a
list of holidays and special dates. Touching a date in the list will
jump to that month in the calendar!

5. MP3/CD changer player - A directory of your
MP3's and/or CD's. The interface supports the listing of all
music by Artists, Genre, etc. PLUS, you can display the CD cover pic
and/or list the tracks for each CD. (Attach Macros to the Track and
CD listings to play them on your device.)

6. DVD directory - List all your DVD's, with
pictures if desired. Interface supports the listing of Title and
Chapters for navigating the DVD without using the DVD menu. Much
faster than using the DVD scene selector!

All Applications support browsing the "root" level by using the built-in
scroll buttons or the Up/Down cursor keys.

"WOW, that's AMAZING!!" Click on the links below and HEAR what
people have said after gazing upon it!!

Um...

You did a great job on your CCF. Really. You should be proud.

But um...

Did you have to be such an ass about it?

I wish you great success. I'm certain you'll get mountains of downloads. More power to you. Excellent work.

Really.

Aaron,

Looks cool. I like your idea for the Hard Buttons on the RC5200/9200. I'd been contemplating the same thing. In fact, I'd been contemplating using tools from this site to generate images that I could burn on a Video CD to load in my changer so the less experienced users could simply flip through some still photos.

So, where's the file? Or better yet, the program to generate/manage the CCF?

And by the way, have the Apple lawyers contacted you yet?

You tease, tease, tease us all the time. You looking to sell the thing? Compete with Dale Crawford? What's up?

Yes, I'll agree that you do have a bit too much time but we all have our vices. Mine is now generating graphics for these darned things using Bryce, PaintShop Pro, Photoshop, etc...

Compete?

Am I in business?

This looks like a really cool CCF. I won't disparage it. I'm certain that it will fill the needs of many in the TSR community. So rather than compete, I will bother to point out some inaccuracies about EasyTheater:

The hard cursor keys in EasyTheater are not "wasted on navigation." In the hard-key version, you use the cursor keys to navigate the menus, but when you get to the activity you select, the hard keys are dedicated to that activity. In any case, you can always choose to use the soft-key version.

You do not need to "create dozens of panels" to add activities to EasyTheater. I did that for you. On the soft-key version, 24 panels are used for navgation. Very few people will need to add additional panels to accommodate all of their devices. But if they do, they'll only need to add one or two--not dozens. The hard-key version uses a lot more panels, and it's not for the TSR newbie. I've posted already that even though the benefit of being able to hard-key your way through the interface is great, I doubt that many people will bother. I bothered because I want to use this feature myself. However, even though the hard-key version has many more panels, you still don't need to create them. They're already there for you. (And even in the hard-key version, you can still use the soft-key navigation scheme if you don't want to use the hard keys.)

You are not limited to four sources in EasyTheater. In fact, you can have as many as you want. The default configuration demonstrates this with six sources under the Watch menu. Instructions are right there on the screen: In the soft key version, touch the menu icon to see more sources. In the hard-key version, touch the menu icon or just scroll down.

The only "tiny button screens" on EasyTheater are the ones designed to be used rarely, if ever. All activities that support keypads offer full-screen keypads that use very large buttons.

Lol,

downloaded his ccf now I'll look at it later when I get home.

Dale...I think he wasn't quite an ass, he clearly marketed it in the old fashioned brand of the town crier/ or a conman he he. (ever see the Simspons episode "Grandpa Simpson vs Sexual inadequacy") Unique I thought.

I'll shut up now, lol

David,

I've done mountains of marketing in my career, so I recognize the barker style. My complaint is that he chose to misrepresent my work instead of promoting on the basis of merit. Which is sad, because it looks like he's got a really cool, extrememly well-thought CCF here.

I'm sure that for plenty of folks, his CCF will be a better choice than EasyTheater. I'd just prefer that he not bolster his own work by making false claims about mine. Unfortunately, I've probably thrown fuel on a fire by responding, but given the nature of his "promotion," it's pretty clear that he intended to get under my skin.

So seriously, I wish him well. His CCF looks really polished and professional. Every good addition to the choices available helps the whole community.

Dale

Tobaz:

Many people implement alternate functions on their TSRs. For example, Daniel Tonks includes a game in his CCF. I think a photo viewer would be at least as useful as that.

I wonder, if you're so worried about people stealing your ideas, why bother telling us about your CCF at all? Aaron is standing up and making a statement with his CCF, complete with pictures. I applaud him for that. All you've done so far is tell us how great your work is, but you're not willing to share it with us. So if it's a "must have CFF" (sic), then why don't you upload it and let people actually have it?

I feel compelled to stick up for the calendar. :-) That will be one of the first devices I add to EasyTheater. (Now if Marantz will just give me my clock back!)

At least you should learn how to spell calendar before you threadcrap on it...

This is the second thread that you've said I've posted similiar messages before. Would you mind providing the links to them? I don't remember making any, but I could be wrong.

Tease? I don't understand this comment. I already have two of my older ccfs in the file area. Where's your's? I couldn't find it.

I got the intent. But since the intent involved disparaging something that I've spent over 700 hours working on, the intent somewhat annoyed me. I'm sure it's all really funny if you're not the one being insulted.
