(1) How do I do this?
Put all of your IR codes in separate panels, and use aliases every else to these codes. Then you only have one place to learn your new IR codes.

(2) I have TSU2000, it came with PE2. Is it worthwhile to download and use PE4?

(3) I loaded firmware SYS 4.8, App 5.3 into my 2000. Was this a good or bad move? If bad, what should I do?

1)
- a) create a panel in Pronto Edit
- b) add a few buttons (use the add button function) add enough buttons for all the commands you need.
- c) label the buttons.
- d) learn the commands to these buttons (directly on the Pronto
- e) right click the panel and check "is hidden"
- f) on the User Interface buttons alias the buttons
--- I) clk alias on the action list
--- II) clk the plus besides the device you need for the code
--- III) clk the plus besides the panel you need for the code
--- IV) clk the code you need

2)Yes, it has less bugs and the newest firmware

adam12,

Just to expand a little bit on what Anthony said about panels:

1.
a. Since you will need at least several panels for all your codes, put these panels under 1 device and call it IR Codes or something similar. Make sure this device is on the device side (not the macro side) of the remote.

b. Put a small label on each panel with the name of the device.

c. I wouldn't hide these panels since if you need to relearn codes, not hiding the panels allows the scroll arrows to be active.

There are other ways to do it, i.e. you can put the code panels in the device which they control as opposed to all code panels in one device. The "all in one" method works well if you don't intend to use RF, which is not an option with the 2000.

2. There are additional software features in PE4 which make creating layouts easier.

should have said one panel (minimum) per device

b. Put a small label on each panel with the name of the device.

good idea, since panel names don't show up on the remote

c. I wouldn't hide these panels since if you need to relearn codes, not hiding the panels allows the scroll arrows to be active.

Is hidden only affects use mode, not learn mode. If he puts them on the macro side, then he will not be able to do anything with them

Right you are!!! I didn't know that. Usually I try to go to the panel I want, and then enter learn mode. If the panels were hidden you couldn't get there. If you enter learn mode first - the scroll arrows appear, even if panels are hidden. Thanks Anthony.

Click on the links in the box below, in particular you will find : the FAQ, Reviews, Play With It, Phases, Planning and ALIAS.CCF helpful when just starting out.

And remember when you ask questions to be specific in your Heading and very specific in your question, including precisely what your problem/question is and what model Remote you have and what OS you are using on your PC.

Also, don't forget the Search Forum at the bottom of the Page. It may seem slow but it is VERY thourough and don't be mislead by the "0%" you will see on the first screen, it is only a progress marker.
