NEWBIE QUESTION:

I have a new TSU2000. I have not flashed it to latest firmware yet, but I will today.

Which version of Pronto Edit should I use?

It says to use Pronto Edit, but are there advantages to using Pronto Pro Edit, and will it work with my TSU2000 (after flashing to latest firmware)?

Help, I am confused....
Thanks!

PE4 is a prontoedit which allows to use all three Prontos on it. You have to select which one you have when you first sign on. You may have it so it won't ask you again. Until you select "new config...." Did you want to use the "buttons" from Pro for your 2000? Well you can. Just go under tools and select the gallery for which you want to use. I think it would ask you change it to b&w. I forget it, but I think it should.
Hope this helps you some.

Is there any reason a PRO owner would want to use ProntoPro Edit over ProntoEdit 4? Any differences?

What version is your ProntoPro Edit? I mean if I assume correctly that's the pe that you got with your remote. So with the PEv4 All of the Pronto's are in one pe. So that you can exchange info better and stuff. I haven't tried ProntoPro Edit by itself, Because I have no need to. But this is what I assum

The ProntoProEdit that originally came with a Pro is very buggy. I don't know what is being shipped now.

However, ProntoEdit 4.03 replaces ProntoProEdit and is the only editor supported by Philips.

Any one working with any version of the Pronto should use PE V4. All versions of PPE must be older since it got integrated with PE.

History
PE 1.x was for the 1000, 890,940
PE 2.0 was for the 2000
PPE 3.x was for the 6000, 970

PE 4.x is used for any Pronto, and has some new features like copy action list, replace all bitmaps (added in PPE) fixes the rename bug (PE 2 and PPE)

Although the program was called ProntoProEdit in files, on the splash screen and on their website, inside the program it was merely "ProntoEdit Color v3.4".
