Hi folks,

I used to have a Sony DVP-CX860 DVD 300 disc changer but it failed under warrenty. I sent it for repair and it was written off as unrepairable but there is no stock to give me a new one as it is a discontinued product.

Does anyone know where I might find a company that still has these in stock or have repaired ones come in from time to time. After organising a supernudelist for my collection i can't possibly go back to a single disc player!!!!!

No help, I'm afraid, but I thought I'd share my experiences with you.

I spent a month or so looking for one of these. I searched the web and followed up every UK sighting. Each company that had it on their web site didn't actually have them in stock. One or two told me they _would_ be getting more in, but later contacted me to say they wouldn't.

I phoned a few local HiFi stores that carried Sony gear and one or two of them tried to get hold of one for me, but failed.

A couple of stores on TCR said they _might_ get more in and they might be worth trying if you're near London.

In the end, I had to get a Pioneer DV-F727 imported.

I bought this player at a store in Germany (no problem here, I live in Germany ;-) )
Maybe they ship to the UK as well. Price couldn't be beat, cost 710,-EUR, the link is here:

A new model is due in the autumn. Again 300 disc changers and does a little bit more, but I can't remember what (mp3's or something useless I think).

I just hope the sort out the loading issues. My 200 disc has never misloaded, where my 2 300 changers do it about 1 in 5 loads :-(

Sony is coming out with a new 301 dvd changer - the DVPCX875P. I know it will be available in the US, I have no idea about the UK. The new player will offer progressive scan and MP3 support. It is due out in late July or early August.
