I have a Sony DVP-CX850D 200 position DVD changer. I can't seem to get direct access to the disks via the remote control which makes the Supernudelist impossible to implement. In other words I can't simply enter a disk number on the keypad and then play that disk. Unless I am missing something to play a disk you must first go to their "Disk Explorer", select the disk and press PLAY. Once in the Explorer you can select a disk by entering the number but I want to avoid the Explorer step completely. Any solutions out there?

Here's a setup for SuperNudelist that will work for the DVP-CX860 and other Sony DVD changers with the On-screen folder disc management.

You can do this quite easily. The Sony DVD changer only supports Infrared codes for direct access for Discs 1-5. These codes are available on this site in CCFs for Sony 5-Disc DVD Changers.

Here's what you need to do to get SNL working.

Step 1. Your CCF DVD device needs to contain 2 extra buttons BeforeDisc and AfterDisc prior to configuring your SNL Player.

The following IR codes can be obtained directly from your remote:

[BeforeDisc] ActionList:
Delay 0.1
Display
Delay 1.0
Right Cursor
Delay 1.0

([AfterDisc] assumes that you have not disabled Layer or Bitrate. If so, remove the extra 'Display' press in the following list)

[AfterDisc] ActionList:
Delay 0.2
Enter (OK is also acceptable)
Delay 4.0
Display
Note: You may remove next 2 lines if you have disabled layer/bitrate. See above.
Delay 0.1
Display

Step 2. Configure your Player in SNL
[SuperNudeList Device Information Button References]

[0] to [9] - Mapped directly to these buttons in your CCF device.

[BeforeDisc] - BeforeDisc Button on DVD Device in your CCF
[AfterDisc] - AfterDisc Button on DVD Device in your CCF

I have not tested my setup if the DVDs in SNL have track information. You are on your own for this one.

When you set up your SNL Player as described above,
when you select a disc, you get the IR sandwiching below.

[BeforeDisc]

Disk # using Keypad Keys

[AfterDisc]

Your movie should start playing automatically as Sony ignores your Autoplay setting for DVDs.

That's the best you can do with SNL for this player as I have spent numerous hours trying to do better searching for Hidden IR codes on the DVD changer only to find that the first 5 discs have direct access.

Have fun.

Maybe one of you can shed some light on my problem. I
have a cx860 and would like to not have it start play
when powered up. I can't see a way around this.

Bruce,

Per Sony Customer Support, the disable Autoplay only works for CDs. All DVDs or Video CDs start automatically. Here's what I did to make things easier. Upon Powerup, the Player loads the last disc. Sometimes, it goes to Disc#1. For Disc #1, I put in the Sony Jacket Pictures Collection Disc so that if by chance, it did start up, you don't have to mess with the FBI BS. An audio CD will work as well.

Regards,
Lyndel

I thought it might be possible to do it using the before and after disk features but was hoping there was another way. The delays are too long for most people.

This generation of Sony DVD changers are poorly designed in almost every respect. The disk explorer is horrible. I guess I need to investigate which other changers out there don't have these problems.

Thanks for the reply. I still may give it a try.
