Hi all,

I just ordered the Pronto TSU-2000 & went through dozens of posts (my neck is tense from all the reading!) trying to find answers to my questions but no luck on complete answers.

1) I have an ATI Remote Wonder ([Link: remotecentral.com]) that works on RF frequency to control my PC's TV tuner card, WinAmp (& whatever other s/w I want) through an RF device plugged into my PC's USB port. How could I setup the Pronto to take control over this same level of functionality? What else do I need to purchase, if anything - IR543?

2) I would also like to be able to turn on/off/dim lights using the Pronto control. I've read this can be done through some X10 products. What X10(?) parts would I specifically need for this control? I'd prefer not to have to make an electrical wiring changes in the house, if avoidable! Furthermore, what would I need to make the Pronto take control over the X10 products (from RF to IR)?

3) Last question is a follow up on #2. Could I use my Pronto to control anything that's plugged in to a pwr outlet (like A/C, etc) provided I use the X10 parts? If so, are there any other special X10 parts I'd need to control devices other than lamps & halogen lights...such as the A/C (on-off feature would be enough)?

Thanks in advance. I'm looking forward to the automation!

I have some experience using a TSU2000 to control X10 Products. Try exploring smarthome.com. Here's a link to the IR interface: [Link: smarthome.com]. And here is a link to the differenct power modules you can get: [Link: smarthome.com]. Your TSU2000 already knows all the necessary X10 codes. I even use mine to light my propane fireplace (always a hit with the ladies). Good luck and have fun!

2) IR543 (same as 40400) also if you have a lot of x-10 on different house codes, then you need an ir543AH

Thanks for the input guys. What about the ATI, which also works on RF? Is there any way to somehow record the button functionality?

There is no universal/learning remote that can control an RF device.

Can you not ditch the ATI and go with an IRman with Girder 3.0 and plugins or similar to control your PC applications. If the PC is in another room, use IR extenders to get through the walls.

This is the only solution I can think of.

Sure, ditching ATI is an option provided I can still do the basics like control WinAmp. What else would I need specifically? (I'm new to this!)

An IRMan IR receiver and a copy of girder, with the plugins for winamp etc. I use my IRman to control winamp and autoroute 2002 when driving my van. The receiver costs about $35 in the states.
