I am definitely going to purchase one of these, but I can't make up my mind. It appears the ProntoPro is much more popular, and based on this I feel I should purchase it. However, the rocker button on the Marantz is very appealing to me. Are there any differences I am overlooking because I am really leaning towards the Marantz? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

The Pronto Pro came out about 6 months before the Marantz. Also the Pro is less expensive. These are the two major reasons there are so many more Pros then 9200s.

The major factor to go with a Pro is Timers and Beeps
The major factor to go with a 9200 is extra screen usage and hard buttons

BUt they are mostly the same under the skin, so go with whichever you can afford and like the best.

What about a "back" button? My understanding is that the Marantz has it, the Pro does not. For me, I have a "lights" page that I've had to repeat a bazillion times because there's no "back" button. This sucks, particularly if you forget and copy the page but don't change the fake "back" button on the page. Then, you'll go to the lights from satellite and end up (after you return from the lights) on TV. Plus, just replicating these pages takes a lot of time.

Azistoohot: there are more differences that I did not bother mentioning. like I said "major factor". The Pro also has the UDB that helps in setting up devices, but since it is a learning remote taking a few extra minutes or hours at the beginning is not major. The 9200 has a back function, but it is limited (one back), also a lot of us with Pronto's use the macro/device/home section jumps as pseudo backs (and in some ways they work better then the true back of the RC9200) the 9200 can also do multiple jumps that can be useful (i.e. like a please wait panel).

But larger screen space, and more buttons is a major advantage (if you can fit a device on one panel instead of two), And timers for those that need them or use them (change sat channel to tape on VCR, close all equipment for the night, or control X10 lights/modules to give the impression that someone is at home) can be almost indispensable.

Let's not forget RF. 9200 comes with, with Pro its extra. But then again you pay much more for the 9200 anyway. I never thought I would use RF since everything I control is in one room anyway, but the luxury of not having to point the remote cannot be overstated. I will never go back.
