I have a Sony 9000ES DVD player that only intermittently comes on with my ProntoPro with IR extender. I have tried learned code and discrete on. The discrete off that I got from this site works every time. Any suggestions (or hex's)? Thanks.

The "on" and "off" codes in the discrete area are exactly the same except for the command number (same frequency, lead in, lead out), so I can't rightly say why one works reliably and the other doesn't. However, a known issue is some Sony DVDs will turn on then off again now and again.

I typically use the "Play" command for on. Works great everytime.

no problems here... i use the TSU6000 with the extender and the DVP-9000ES... dicrete on/off are no problem... but, like JJP said, i also use the 'play' button to bring it to life!

i've noticed that also but it seems I have to press play several times to get the unit to come on. This is a strange problem as everything else works well...and it is an intermittent problem???

Try re-learning your Sony codes. Sounds like they may be dirty.

Sony's and RCA's IR is pretty strong, and I've found that learning codes from the original Sony/RCA remote with the remote about 24-30 inches away from the Pronto's learning eye, yields the cleanest codes.
