I have had my new ProntoPro for exactly one week. I have been busily (and happily) programming it (having upgraded from a TS1000). Suddenly, the ProntoPro is totally dead. "Reset" doesn't help, as nothing appears to happen when I press that "button". Removing the rechargable battery and reattaching it hasn't helped either.

Has anyone experienced this? Any suggestions?

Thanks much.

I had an issue with the TSU6000 not properly charging due to some film they place on the charger contacts... i would try cleaning the the contacts for teh battery, the interface between the TSU6000 and the craddle and the power input for the craddle.....

worth a try anyway.... does the charge light come-on when the the unit is in the craddle? does the unit respond when docked?

I do alot of Pronto/ProntoPro programming and installs, and the most common problem, (or call from a client), that i get is "my remote isn't working". my first question is "have you accidentally moved the contrast/focus control on the left side of the remote?". if this doesnt help, then what is the status of the chargers LED? and are you getting a visible picture on the screen of the remote at all?

You also might need to download a fresh copy of the firmware. You should use the latest firmware (which comes with PE4).

At this point, there have been three responses to my query. I appreciate all three answers.

The charge light DOES come on on the charger unit when I place the device into the cradle. The unit does NOT respond even when placed in the cradle.

I cannot download a fresh copy of the firmware -- the unit must be "alive" to receive the download. Prior to its untimely death, I had downloaded the latest firmware from ProntoEdit4.

Checking the "contrast" control on the left side of the unit was one of the first things I checked -- it had no effect.

Regarding the suggestion to clean the contacts -- what would you suggest I use to clean them? And would you clean just the charger contacts (i.e., on the cradle) or would you also clean the contacts on the TSU6000?

Thank you again, all, for your help!!

Often, a seemingly totally dead unit will accept a firmware download.
