Have had Prontopro a few weeks. Recently, left it in a vertical remote control caddy for a couple of days. Tried to use it today, and there are now dark thick vertical lines from top to bottom of screen where buttons are placed. Tried reset, didn't help. Tried to adjust brightness too. Has anyoe had this problem, and can tell me how to fix. Thanks for any suggestions

Have read some othe posts while waiting for replies. My lines are not faint ghostings. They are dark grey from the top to the bottom of the unit, and cover all buttons that I took from Dan's gallery.

You might need to download a fresh copy of the firmware. Make sure it is the current version (as shipping with PE4).

Try leaving it horizontal for a few days, see if it improves. Does it look like "bad information being displayed" or "something physical causing the lines".

Okay guys, thanks for replies. Next day, not as dark as yesterday, but still much worse than what you would call ghosting. Black label names on default grey buttons can only be read when holding remote at one specific angle. New firmware download first time required reset and then got aborted due to runtime error. Worked on second attempt, but didn't improve dark shading. Black-on blue buttons from Dan's gallery, with bright day-glo name label colors slightly easier to see. Dark shading only runs verically from top to bottom where buttos are positioned. Always use remote with full brightness, but assumed thats okay as its part of prontopro's settings. Will leave horizontal for a few days as per Dan. Any other ideas?

This is probably too obvious, but aside from the brightness setting you mentioned, are you also adjusting the contrast?

Kabster-
Oh sure... Just like you computer geeks to spout techno-babble... can't you give us your diagnosis in layman's terms, plain english. etc.? Don't suger-coat it!
Funny, but after a customer gives me a long, detailed, drawn-out description of some problem & I say "It sounds like it's busted - we'll have to bring it in & fix it", they're never quite satisfied. They seem to want a more "professional" term. Toasted, Totally Screwed, FUBAR'ed, Smoked, T*ts Up, Boat Anchor, Doorstop, Hammered, etc., don't seem to work either.
And THEN they want to WHY it broke... "Because It Can" is my favorite, with "Bad Kharma" a close second.
Maybe I need to work on my public relations skills...

Guess what? Kept unit horizontal for a few days, downloaded firmware a few times, and restored default ccf. End result - dark vertical lines are history. Thanks, Dan, Peter, Klaatu and Barry. Sorry to disappoint you, Kabster. Are all universal remotes this squirrelly?

Barry here is one for you :-) "Sounds like you let the smoke out" or "Sounds like the smoke is trapped in the unit and couldn't find a way out" although I still prefer the simple "It's broken"

Sure that's simple, but I need to enhance my techie vocabulary to justify our labor rates...
Whoa - Looks like a bad flux capacitor precipitating a negative ion/ph balance, probably brought on by chronic electron irregularity & blockage!
That sounds like a cross between Back to the Future & a Preparation H commercial.. needs more work.
