I tried to download and install ProntoEdit4 last night. It took about 2 hours to download, and failed to install with a message feedback of "Error 1335 the cabinet file 'Data.Cab' required for this installation is corrupt and cannot be used. Or an error reading from this package." When I select ignore, I get the message "Internal error 2350". I cannot repeat the download process because my system keeps trying to "reinstall" the original download. I tried to delete the original download, by deleting two files in Windows labeled "ProntoEdit4...", but apparently there are others hidden somewhere. Suggestions\ideas? I am using Windows XP Thanks in advance.

Sounds like you are using some sort of tool to assist in downloads. These often cause problems.

Peter,

Well, not to my knowledge. I havn't installed anything special and have relied on the standard XP software to do the job. Any ideas on what I might try next would be appreciated. I guess I could get along with my current 3.05 if I had to. Thanks.

When you say:
I cannot repeat the download process because my
system keeps trying to "reinstall" the original
download.

what exactly do you mean? If you just use the standard XP download, it starts from scratch each time you do the download.

Peter,

Just finished downloading and installing ProntoEdit4 from the philips.com. All went well, so I guess I won't worry about what was causing the problem at RemoteCentral. I really appreciate your help. Thanks a lot.

I had the same problem with Win98 SE. Downloaded twice from here, and got the ERROR 1335, "Missing DATA.CAB" when trying to install. Downloaded from the Philips site and it went in fine. I noticed another post where someone downloaded it 5 times from Remotecentral.com, and it finally worked. Something weird is going on.

fred,
I had this problem, but the download didn't work from Philips either and the final version (the one I am using now) is the one from RC. ;-)
btw. Peter: You said the standard XP download will always start from scratch again, but I encountered the problem that after having d/l a corrupt version this seemed to be "stored" somewhere in the cache. So when I tried to download a second time he used the stored version (Downloadtime 1sec for 13MB - I'd love that!). I had to delete the browser's cache first in order to download the file.

Andre,

My observations are very similar to yours. The original version seemed to be stored somewhere, and would not lownload again and would not install. I did not try to delete the browser cache. I just went to the Phillips site and downloaded and installed successfully with the first try without any problem. Strange and I don't underestand. I have downloaded several CCF's from RemoteCentral since then without any trouble.
