..... if you have let's say 4 codes for a device??
The thing is I have 4 "basic" codes ON/OFF and input select (data/video and S-video) for my Projector and would like to figure out (have) the codes for the menu etc. Is there a way of testing or analyze the existing codes that I have??

Are the other codes even available? Are they on your OEM Remote? If they are, just teach them to your Pronto.

You could also look in the Files Section here to see if someone has one posted. Don't limit yourself to exact model numbers, try anything that's close. Sometimes similar models use the same codes, you might even pick up some that aren't on your OEM remote.

It would help if you posted what Projector you have, as well.

Click on the links in the box below, in particular you will find : the FAQ, Reviews, Play With It, Phases, Planning and ALIAS.CCF helpful when just starting out.

And remember when you ask questions to be specific in your Heading and very specific in your question, including precisely what your problem/question is and what model Remote you have and what OS you are using on your PC.

Also, don't forget the Search Forum at the bottom of the Page. It may seem slow but it is VERY thourough and don't be mislead by the "0%" you will see on the first screen, it is only a progress marker.

CLICK ON THESE LINKS

I've looked in the Files Section, and no luck at all :-( It's a Epson EMP 500 that I have. I droped the orignal remote and had only learned these 4 codes at the time.

OUCH!

Gonna hafta hope someone else has it and can send 'em to ya!

Although it seems there might be some apps in the Utilities Section that might do what you're looking for. I've never used 'em, so can't do much more than point you there.

MIKE

Mikael, there is a chance of getting all the codes you need. What you are going to need to do is figure out what IR protocol your projector uses. Download CCF2EFC and/or IR Tool from the files section at Remote Central, and run them against your CCF. Hopefully with only four codes captured one of them will be able to figure out what protocol and device number your projector is using.

Once you know that, download GenIRDB from the files section here at RemoteCentral. It allows you to generate all the codes for a given device, once you know the protocol and device number it uses. Use the values you learned above, and plug them into GenIRDB. Then you can generate all the IR codes for your projector, with one big caveat - you won't know which code does what. (In other words, you will have code 1, code 2, code 3, etc, but you won't know what each one does.)

You can create a bunch of buttons for the Pronto, and put each code on a button and experiment and see what happens. Disclaimer - some people say sending all the codes in this way can do bad things to your equipment.

This is what I get using CCF2EFC:

Button(00000A50)=47,61, size=147,38, "S-video", font=Pronto 14
IR Code: "Epson S-Vid" 0000 0000 0000 0000 0070 0000 0019 0024 000F 000C 0024 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 0019 000C 000F 000C 002D 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 0023 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 002D 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0023 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0D11
Inconsistent lengths: 120 total bytes != 14 overhead + 4*(0 once + 0 again)
freq=0.0KHz

Button(00000A2A)=47,141, size=147,38, "PC", font=Pronto 14
IR Code: "Epson Comp. 1" 0000 0000 0000 0000 0070 0000 0019 0024 000F 000C 0024 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 0019 000C 000F 000C 002D 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 0023 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0023 000C 0023 000C 0019 000C 0D25
Inconsistent lengths: 120 total bytes != 14 overhead + 4*(0 once + 0 again)
freq=0.0KHz

And I don't understand any thing!! Help me ;-) Is there anybody that gets it???

2 Mikael:

CCF2EFC reports fault (Inconsistent lengths) correctly. First 6 bytes are excess. Correct code is
0000 0070 0000 0019 0024 000F 000C 0024 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 0019 000C 000F 000C 002D 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 0023 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 002D 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0023 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0D11

It can work, but still looks some durty. I suppose, it can be re-learned to 7000-form.

The problem is that the remote is broken!!! What do you meen with "it can be re-learned to 7000-form" and what is 7000-form??? maybe the same question..

So what to do, and is it posible to create "new" code, such as menu, up and down etc.??

Mikael:
You takes that codes by this way:
1. Creating new CCF and learning IR codes via (broken)Pronto
2. Saving (or downloading and saving) this CCF
3. Converting CCF to EFC by CCF2EFC tool

If true, your Pronto is broken, at least IR learning module. (But it is really strage...). May be, tool bugged?

You should test Pronto:
1. Learn IR command (Only Pronto, mode menu/LEARN casted to button)
2. Test learned command (mode menu/USE)

It it works - OK. This is a bug of CCF2EFC
Else:

1. Try to use commands from Pronto internal Database

If it doesn't work - you have no way to IR, but an extreamal Pronto bug!

The problem isn't with Mikael's Pronto, its with the factory remote from his projector.

Mikael, I must be using a newer version of ccf2efc than you. The version I'm using is avalaible at [Link: groups.yahoo.com]. (You may have to joint the yahoo group to get to it.) It produces output like:

Button(00031AE2)=0,128"Channel +"freq=40.2KHz
(SONY12):1:16 EFC = 082 ? 074
"Learned" 0000 0067 0000 000D 0060 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0030 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 0018 043C

The important part is the line after the Button line, the one that reads "(SONY12):1:16 EFC = 082 ? 074"

This tells me that the protocol in use is the SONY12 protocol, the device is 1, the function is 16. With that info, I could use a program from the web to generate all the SONY12 command for device 1 and try them out.

I'd suggest getting the newer version of ccf2efc and seeing if it produces something more interesting than the version you have. If it doesn't, I'm at a loss other than contacting Epson and seeing what a new remote would cost. If it does spit out a protocol and device number, post that info and I can help with the next steps.

Thanks Barry!
But I'm still not any closer to a solving this case, the later version of this program doesn't give any more. This is what I get:

HOME(00000C8F) "HOME"
panel(00000BE2) "Epson" 4
Button(000009EC)=47,21"Power Toggle"freq=37.0KHz
(PANASONIC) Error 600242B00121 :176.66:2 EFC = 183 {offset 75 in single part using 50 of 125 pairs}
"Learned"

Hmm, that does not look any protocol I recognize. On the other hand, a definite pattern is visible. Other than the first code (which looks like it was not captured cleanly) all of the rest have a repeating section with 25 burst pairs, with the first 18 pairs identical for all the codes, and only a few bits changed in the end. Makes me think that the first part is the device number, followed by the function.

With that, it should be fairly straight forward to whip up some codes to experiment with. The first thing I would try is testing code

0000 0070 0000 0019 0024 000F 000C 0024 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 0019 000C 000F 000C 002D 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 0023 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 0019 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 000F 000C 0019 000C 0023 000C 0023 000C 000F 000C 0D38

which should be a clean version of the power toggle from your sample. If it is, let me know and I can email you some other codes to experiment with. Is the email in your profile correct?

Hi Barry
I tried your "clened" code but it seems to be to clean, the problem is that "power on" and teh first "power off" is working at this point there is a "menu" saying "press Power to turn off" and at this point nothing is happening....... :-(

Hmm, what happened when you used the now defunct factory remote's power button - did you get the same menu, and did the remote actually shut it off?

If you want I can generate some codes to experiment with and see what the projector does with them.

What happened was that the "code" turned on the projector while it was turned off (of course) ;-):But when I tried to turn it off it shows this message "Press the on/off button to turn OFF" or something (normal) and normaly when U push the button the second time the projector turns off but this is where the hickup is, it dosen't turn the pprojector off.......
