I am having trouble locating codes for NTL digital &
Telewest digital boxes [both made by Pace] .

The Pronto will not learn these codes but I was able to download a NTL pronto CCf file which worked for a while [but now it does not]

Any ideas,I tried contacting Pace not much help there.

HELP!!!

This probably won't please you but you should look at this thread:

[Link: remotecentral.com]

Unfortunately pronto's can't learn from these pace boxes as they are RF rather than IR.

Apparently, recent software updates converted boxes that worked to RF so they no longer work.

Sorry!!

Hi

Not quite true, the boxes are IRDA which is why you can't learn them, some of the boxes from NTL, not ex CW were IR and could be learnt, but since a SW upgrade this seems to be broken, just what I worked out from the thread that I have read. :-)

Have been following this thread for a month or so as I have a similar problem except rather that the Pronto I am trying to use an IR extender in the form of the Philips TV link. Apparently Philips are aware of the problem and are currently working on a solution where IRDA is used. Given they recognise the hassles everyone has been having with I would hope that this technology could be transferred to their Universal remotes too. In the meantime the best means of getting some results appear to be with your respective cable operator and complain as I have to Telewest. They are taking this problem seriously and the more people who air their views(!) the better. The Telewest digital repair centre is a good place to start as they are helpful and unbiassed.

Pace have used IRDA in preference to IR as a result of their customers requests. i.e. Telewest and NTL et al.
So make your views known.

For remote controls the all In One URC 7562 does work with an upgrade via the Internet and then code in 1068. It does not operate via a TV link as the IRDA codes cannot be carried by the TV Link as yet.

I am interested to know about the 4000 series Set Top Boxes as I am sure I read this on a Bulletin Board about a year ago where it was said that they might not work. The box I have is the 2000 series

Incidentally AEI home security products are making a Telewest compatible IR extender but it isn't ready yet according to their website (Gold Upgrade can't remember the WWW address I'm afraid)

Any more info from anyone who has a working system I would be very grateful of knowing about

All the best

Roddy
