Hi,

How compatible are the pronto line of remotes?

I mean, I have a TSU2000 - most of the stuff I have on it is either internal code database, or (more often) learned codes. Also, there's a fair amount of graphics on it.

If I want to copy the configuration to another remote (E.g., the RU940, the TSU1000, Pronto PRO, or even Marantz 5200) - would it work properly?

Would the different software be able to interpret everything?

Let me know your experiences on this.

the 1000 is compatable with the 2000 and the marantz monochrome with some playing
as to the 6000 being compatable with the 9200 .
I have yet to convert the two.
color is not that great on the monochrome unit and vica versa with monochrome to color.
Different software might work . not sure .

I'm not that concerned with the graphical aspect of it (since I will have to redesign everything from scratch).

More about the technical side of the codes being fully compatible. I don't want something that worked on the one remote not to work on the other...

UDB codes can not be translated. So if you used them, in a CCF and then you use it on a non UDB remote the buttons using them will end up functionless.

UDB remotes
Pronto TSU-2000
Pronto Pro (both: RU970,TSU-6000)

Non UDB
Pronto (TS-1000,RU890,RU940)
Marantz (all)

has UDB but I am not sure how compatible they are
Yamaha RAV2000, Onkyo Chad

Plus from what I heard the Pros have a more recent UDB, so there is a possibility that some Pro UDB codes might not work with a TSU-2000
------------------
Other issues

Graphics: should not be a problem, but color->B&W does not look very good, and (at least for PPE, you need to do file open to translate B&W into color, if you do not the buttons will not show)

Screen: the 5200, 9200 has a larger screen, I think opening a TSU2000 CCF in one of them centers the smaller screen

Features: Marantz and Philips have proprietary features (such as multiple jumps or timers) when moving from one to the other unsupported features are deleted- like the UDB codes)

If you have a 5200 or 9200 ccf, they will not open under the software for any of the other remotes. The larger programmable screen size will not translate. Anthony is correct, in that going from a 2000 to a 5200 will result in the pages being centered on the larger screen. Additionally, going from a 2000 to a 5200, 6000, or 9200 will leave the extra hard buttons on these remotes unassigned.

Jim: forgot about the extra hard buttons :-)
Also just tried creating a fake CCF with TSS as a 9200 and I did an export TSU6000 and it worked. It seamed to truncate the size, so that things fit.

Anthony,

That's interesting. I could swear that I tried that, the ccf loaded, the devices were listed, but no pages under the devices. Must be the alzheimers flaring up. I'll have to try it again.

Well, I tried it again, and the devices were listed, but no pages, not even the home page. I did it with my 9200 ccf, maybe there are some conditions under which it will and won't work.

Oh, oh! Just read your post again (should learn to read more closely). You did an "export" - guess that explains it.

Jim: I don't have a 9200, so all I did was create a few home panels , and a couple of device panels and did the export TSU-6000 in TSS. Then I opened the exported file in PPE. things were just truncated (like I said). I only tried it in the emulator, not the remote itself (I don't have a Pro on-hand), but everything looked OK (except for the truncating in the PPE emulator)

yea in the old days it was just flipping back and forth (TS-1000, RC5000) but when Marantz added its cool features (multiple jumps) the CCFs started needing conversion in the original designer (that is why I have all of them on my PC, you don't know what you will need). Some you do with "save as" and others with "export" I sure hope they start using the same terminology in all of them, it is a nuisance

If you do an Export or "save as" with the Chad software, will you get the IR commands from the CHAD UDB if you import that exported CCF into a Marantz 5200?

I have read that it will work but have not been successful. Been trying to get some of the codes from a CHAD into a 5200 for a while..
