I have to H/K receivers in my den. A new one (AVR320) that controls all the home theater stuff, and an old one (AVR25ii) that please music to the pool speakers outside.
I am wanting my Pronto to just control the AVR320 right now...I'll mess with the other one later. Problem is - some commands turn the old receiver on or off.
Any solutions to this? thanks.

Hmm, I don't believe you can set up user-addressable codes for H/K equipment (some equipment like Tivo/ReplayTV does allow this). You may need to toggle the power - so one is always on and one is always off. Randy www.RRDeals.com

Well, you can use an IR repeater for the older unit and place the repeater's receiver in a spot where the Pronto won't hit it. When you want to control the older unit, just move to or point in the direction of the repeater. You will also need to cover up the sensor on the older unit's front panel so the repeater's "eye" is the only thing the older unit will see.
One other possibility is to get one of the Pronto-like remotes that has RF cabability. You could program two devices...one with IR and one with RF, and then setup similarly to above (covering the sensor where the RF "eye" would go). In this case, you wouldn't have to point or move your remote in any specific direction (like you would have to in the above example).
Hope this helps...

I hadn't thought of that - use IR for the receiver in the same room as the Pronto, and RF for the one in the other room. Great idea! Randy www.RRDeals.com

There are some hardware solutions available. Xantech makes a device called a "gatekeeper" which would do the trick. Never used one and I'm not sure how much they cost. Jim L

I recently used an IR controlled A/B cable switch from radio shack (check the catalog, they stock it but often don't know it) replaced the rf switcher with a relay, and used it to send code to separate systems containing yamaha receivers, sony dvd, and sony sat receivers. If you don't solve your problem in a simpler way and enjoy projects send me your email address and I will forward part numbers for the switch and relay and the other info needed.
P.S. I haven't used the Xantech router yet either
