I have just bought the RF extender for my Pronto Pro. After a bit of tinkering (changing the channel and moving it a few times) I have got it woring with everything except my IR to X10 converter.

Basically the Pro works fine sending IR to the IR to X10 converter, but if I switch to RF nothing happens. The extender is receiving a signal because the LED blinks - I have tried the IR blaster and the extender leads. Has anyone got there X10 lights working the RF extender?

HELP!

BJ,

Since, the LED blinks, we can eliminate most of common problems. This one may be difficult to resolve, I'd try changing the channel on the RF extender. Don't forget to change it in the software as well. I'd continue to use the dual emitter leads at this point. It offers the greatest assurance that the signal is getting to the X-10 converter. If changing the channel doesn't work, put it back to the original channel. This worked for me, although I have no idea why. Other things you can try is moving the RF extender to a different location away from any other operating equipment. Lastly, try relearning (or download) the codes. Sometimes a marginally good code will work directly in IR, but lose something in the translation from IR to RF to IR. Hope this helps.

Jim et al.,

I have the same problem - have tried everything and nothing works!!! I have relearned codes, moved locations, changed channels, etc. Everything else works, just not X10 via RF using the IR to X10 module.

I'm very confused as to why - but it's annoying. My favorite, embarassing test was to actually put the units almost face to face, in a completely dark closet, WITH the IR extendors stuck to the IR to X10 receiver. Nothing helps to make this work reliably!

I have tried moving it back to Channel 0.....This now works!.....but now have a new problem. When I turn of all non essential appliances via X10 (obviously RF extender and X10 IR box have to be on all the time so I can switch it back on). The RF Extender light blinks constantly (indicating interference) and I can't turn it back on or operate the X10 appliances anymore. Surely turning equipment off should reduce the risk of interference - I'm confused.

BJ,

Gee, you're getting interference from some where. Since we're dealing with RF it could be a source some distance away. The only thing I can think of is to try several different channel settings.

Ladisky,

Recently, I had some trouble with my RF setup. Finally was able to figure out that the problem was mixed modes (RF & IR) in the same macro. I'm guessing that an IR command followed immediately by an RF command (or visa versa) can sometimes mess things up. Finally got it working by reordering the commands and using delays between commands that had different transmission modes. I may be totally wrong about what the problem was, but eventually got it working. Don't know if this applies to you or will be of any help, but here's hoping.

Tried all 3 channels I can only get the IR to X10 working on Channel 0. It's kinda odd why is works with loads of electrical equipment on arround it - you'd think it would be the other way.

As an aside - how do you get to mix and match between IR and RF on a device or Macro - I though you just specified one or the other in the properties. It would really sort out my design (as some devices like my telly use IR and stuff in cabinates uses RF).

Cheers

when you learn a code (or use the UDB) the IR/RF comes into place (an IR device will send IR and RF device will send RF). But when you alias that button (like on the home page, or a power macro) it uses the aliased buttons settings (so if the TV is IR and the DVD is RF, the watch DVD button will send IR to the TV and RF to the DVD)

BJ,

It should work to at least some degree on any of the channels. When you changed channels, did you also modify your device settings to the new channel in the software and then download your changes to the remote?

Anthony's right concerning mix and match. You just have to be real careful when using aliases as to what device (and it's IR/RF setting) the source code (aliased button) is located in.
