My wife often watches news, HGTV, etc using the TV speakers. Other times we use the descrete sound system in "theater" mode for the full blown effect. I would like to program the remote to use the hard keys to contol the volume dependent on which "mode" we are in. The problem is that the remote always clears the hard keys when it exits a device, unless I program them globally. Thus, I can't use a macro to re-program the hard keys. Other than doubling the number of devises and screens, is there a work around for this problem?

Best Regards,
SM

In Prontoedit, open your .ccf file and expand the HOME section at the top. Then double-click System Properties. On the resulting tabbed window, you can alias the volume hard keys to lets say the amp. These settings will remain for all devices throughout the config.

Then you now need to overide this when you are in the TV device.

To do this, expand devices and expand TV (assuming it's called TV). Then double-click Properties under TV.

Once again, alias the volumne hard keys to the TV volume + and - . This has now set the volume keys to be for the TV when you are in one of the TV device's panels.

That's how I have it set up. The problem is with the "favorite's" Menu. The lack of conditional branching means that I would need two favorite's menus, which is a hugh waste of memory. Yet, I think came up with an solution based on Dan Tonks ccf . . .
I am guessing that if I put define the favorites as a macro, then I can jump in and out from two different devices. I believe that as long as I return to the parent, that the hard keys should be programmed correctly. Is this true?

Yes. A lot of us use the macro side to create a pseudo back function

How do I impliment a "return". The unconditional jumps won't do what I need!

Never mind. I think I figured out a way of doing it. Macros that call macros..."It ain't pretty", but it should work.

Here is what I thought. On one side volume related devices and panels, things that don't need doubling. Where by two sides I mean the macro side and the device side.

For example I have a telephone book on the macro side, so that if I am watching TV, DVD or anything else I can click on the phone book button look at the book, then click back on the device side and am back to the activity I was on.

here are some other ideas you might want to consider

1) increase (or decrease) both volumes at the same time, by aliasing TV Vol+ and receiver vol+. The only negative is that the button becomes a macro and it will end up doing one click at a press

2) add a jump to a dialog page asking what volume is to change

3) use different hard buttons for each piece of equipment (L/R = TV, vol.+/- = receiver)

I am having problems programing my ProntoNeo to learn my Toshiba receiver. On the setup it accepts the code, but only works the On/Off and volume control. I've tried to use the Learn mode with the remotes, but it keeps failing with every button. This is the problem with all my remotes except the Dish Satellite
remote. It learned all the Dish remote commands.

I called Philips tech support and they said my remote must be transmitting over 56 kilohertz. I can't believe all my remotes accept one would be like this.

Any ideas?
