Does anyone know where I can buy parts for a Toshiba CF3566A 35-inch TV? Mine is on the blink, and to be honest, since my wife and I had our twins, we don't have the budget to have the thing professionally repaired, much less replace it.
I know what's wrong with the thing, at least down to which circuit board is hosed. I'm hoping someone can direct me to someone or someplace where I can buy the part myself.
Thanks, and sorry for off-topic.

Maybe this place can get you started in the right direction (never used them, just found them on Google): MIKE

doing a board replacement can be quite costly you might want to do a componet level repair to save cost. I can help you locate the faulty componet(s). what is the set doing? Do you have a DVOM to make tests with? Bob

Robert:
I'm by no means a qualified technician. I only tinker.
That said, all of the video and audio inputs on the back of the TV have stopped working entirely. This includes the RCA jacks as well as the S-video. However, the TV has a front input with RCA and S-Video, and these connectors work and give audio and video.
There's a board at the back of the TV that contains the various connectors. My thought was, since I'm not a technician, to replace this board. I do know how to use a soldering iron to the level that I used to build Heathkit kits. But, I was always an instruction-follower--I never actually knew how the components did what they did.
If it were as simple as unsoldering and soldering in a new resistor, capacitor, diode, or even an IC, I feel comfortable I could do the job safely. My issue is my inability to diagnose the problem at a component level.
I considered pulling the board out of the TV and taking JUST that to the repair shop, but they told be point blank that they wouldn't even look at it if I did so.
I'd even consider buying a non-working unit of the same model, because the odds of a duplicate failure are low, and I could probably cannibalize the board I need.
So those are my uneducated thoughts on the subject. Any ideas?

let me get back to you on that problem it sounds like the A/V switching IC has failed or the data select line to that IC has failed I am a techncian and I am willing to guide you through the repair just keep a heathy respect for the high voltage that is produced by a tv (35KV) and you'll do fine. this repair does not need to be powered on but sets do retain high voltage. I'll show you the safe way to do the repair but let me find the service manual first to get you started in the right direction. keep in mind that this repair can not be done in you living room so you will need to have a well lit work bench free from pets, little fingers, and know-it-all neighbors.

Robert:
I really appreciate your help on this.
You'll be happy to know that I'm acutely aware of the voltage capacitance of a CRT. When I was in college I undertook as a project building a Macintosh from the discarded parts of a Mac service shop. It was then that I learned the adage You aren't a man until you've been thrown across the room by a discharging CRT. Since then I've seen less cautious fellows get shocked by CRTs that have been unplugged as long as several days. That said, I'll still listen to every safety tip you can offer. I have no interest in further damaging either my television or my autonomic nervous system. : )
Back to the TV: I also went looking for the service manual, but wasn't able to locate one. I do know that there's a separate parts manual, which I was also not able to get my hands on. Perhaps this is where being in the business will help.
Sincere thanks,
Dale

Dale: after doing a parts search for the service manual I found out that it's no longer available and I did not have one either so that makes it more difficult to locate the IC that does the switching. On a whim I looked your set up in the Orion blue book and found that your set was made between '90 and '92 making the set 10 years + so alot of those parts may no longer be available. And as you know that the average life span for a TV is 10 years. so my suggestion is to run the set until it dies on its own. If you can find another set for junked parts you could try it but keep in mined if that part has a catisrophic failure it could ruin your set then you would have nothing. I wish I could help more but without the manual it's imposible to help you locate the problem. sorry, Bob

You may want to check out this link. It is a TV repair archived answers/questions. I didn't check to see if your set was listed (the list is very long), but it may or may not help. [Link: anatekcorp.com]JJP
