I just got my Pronto remote and wanted to try a few complete system files from this site. Do I only need the ProntoEdit software to do this?

I've got all of my components programmed into it, but only on the default layouts. I'll probably try the custom layouts after I get used to it.

Is it easy to pick through the downloaded files and only use certain screens, layouts, etc?

Any advice and help is greatly appreciated.

yes, but since there are many remotes that use CCF, and they are interchangeable, it is a good idea to install all the editing software (RAVEdid, ChadEdit, RCEdit, ProntoProEdit, ProntoEdit) with ProntoEdit the last program installed. That way if you see a ccf you like designed for a different remote, you can still convert it into a Pronto CCF. Also install PE last, so that it is the default program for CCFs on your PC (in the file section under remote it will tell you for what CCF using remote the CCF was designed to be used with.

once a decision is made yes, but there are so many CCFs out there that finding what you like is hard :-)

P.S. Before you use (cut & copy, merge & replace) other CCFs, it is better to study the CCF (look at its structure), so that you don't delete something important.
