Now that I am getting used to working with the PPro, I can't seem to figure this one out... A macro is a sequence of 2 or more button pushes, right? So, why would I need to place a device in the "Macro" section of PPro edit when I could easily place it in with the other devices and use a jump or alias to access that part of the macro? Isn't it essentially the same thing? Understand what I mean?

Just getting on to the next phase of my learning curve.....

G,

You're right, you don't. It's a holdover from the initial release of the Pronto when you could only program on the remote. Then you had to program macros on the macro side. There is at least one advantage to the macro side however. If you're on a macro page and you tap the device menu, it will take you back to the last device page you used. Kind of a poor mans back button.

Also if you don't feal like using PE you can still program macros on the macro side (not the device side). And if you ever wish to be able to edit macros on the remote, then they need to be on the macro side.

The other advantage is that you can copy the macro panel and then just change one device. Then you can quickly make macro's for DVD, VCR, TV etc.
