I finally bought a Pronto the middle of last week and, thanks to all of the Pronto files and info on this site, have a fantastic set of device applications and macros, and eliminated seven remotes in the process. Personally I thought the Pronto Edit software was quite good and easy to work with.

One thing missing to make it complete are the Discrete On/Off codes for a Dish Network Model 4922 receiver. It’s a combination UHF/IR unit and the Pronto had no problems learning all of the IR codes. To make all of my macros all function properly, I need to have the individual on/off codes. I’ve searched the files and messages here w/o any success.

Is anyone aware of these codes?

Supposedly, there is no discrete on or off for Dish receivers. So, you either leave it on all the time or work around it somehow.

No supposedly. There are no discrete codes for dish receivers.

Andrea,

Someone has posted work arounds in the new "discrete" forum. I've yet to try them, though. Also, has someone exhaustively tested all possible IR codes? There's 8 bits for the "command" and 8 bits for the "device". If the device code isn't changed by Dish when doing the IR codes, then that's 256 possible commands. Of these, one could go through and determine which are already in use and then try buttons with the other X number of commands. Has this been done? (By the way, power is 239. I tried 238 and 240 and nothing happened. However, I had the power on, and a discrete power on wouldn't have had any effect.) Now, if Dish also uses the device codes, then there's too many to test.

I didn't say there weren't workarounds. There are no discrete codes.

I did read a post recently from John Pechulis that referred to the workaround posted in the Discrete forum. I tried it today and it worked. I'm going to start a new thread here about it with a more appropriate title (since it's not specific to the 4922).
