Anyone know of a discrete code to select between the different video inputs on a panasonic tua pureflat TV. It is hard to set up my remote to do everything for my family if the input select scrolls. Thanks.

Have you tried checking the files section yet?

Yeah, I checked both the code section and the "discrete hunter" forum. Nothing.

Does the remote have buttons for these? If so, you can learn them. Another option I've used is a macro. For instance, my TV automatically selects a particular screen mode for my Dish receiver. I cannot stand this screen mode. I've had to program in a macro to convert this screen mode to the one I like. It does work, but there are periodic errors maybe 5% of the time. Consequently, I also have a button to manually modify the screen mode (no macro).

The problem is that the input button on the remote just scrolls through the 3 different video inputs. I removed one because I don't use it (option on the TV menu) but I need the other 2. I am using my receiver as a video switcher but I don't have a S-VHS. So I have to use vid 1.

If someone switches the input to vid 1 and forgets to switch it back to vid 2, then my macro's will be messed up. So if there was a way to set it to vid 1 or vid 2 independentaly, I would be set.
Thanks

Try this link for a generic work-around for TOADS:

My monitor is a big-time TOAD as far as the video inputs are concerned and there's no way to force it into a predictable state. So, here's what I plan to do when I get my remote:

I've created a small "Home" icon that appears on every page. (It's small, but not as small as the ProntoPro's built-in icon at the top of the screen!) That way, I can assign a macro to it that will switch video inputs so that whenever the remote is on the "Home" screen, the monitor will always be on the same video input. Does that make sense?

One drawback to that method is you have to go "Home" every time you want to change devices. (I know some people like to have a one-tap device change!) Also, I guess you'd have to instruct everyone to ignore the remote's built-in "Home" icon, which might be a little confusing.

I haven't been able to test this idea, but it seems like it should work...

Does your flat panel have a tuner built in? Normally a channel up will revert to the RF input on any television when on an external input.

Thanks Matt, I didn't know about the channel up/down thing. But it does work. The only problem is that I have to have my TV set to channel 3 (satallite). Of course I could make channel 3 my only available channel and it would probably still work. However, I have gotten my wife and son used to the remote now. So far, no snags. THe sad thing is my 5 year old is better with the remote than my wife.

Next thing is going to be a s-vhs, then I can eliminate the vid 1 all together.

Now if only I had bought an HDTV instead. Trying to watch movies through s-video cables that are being broadcast in HD is annoying. Atleast with inferier composite cables the digital artifact isn't as noticable . . .

MI,

Just build a macro - Use channel up to get to RF input, then 0, 3 (or 0, 0, 3) to put it back to channel 3.
