When I deceided to undertake a major CCF overhaul, and since I had no graphic design skills whatsoever, I decided to blatently poach a "theme" from the CCFs on this site. I used the "Dale Crawford's Amazing Pronto" as the theme, although I started the CCF from scratch and used only the bitmap icons.

The problem is that the labels for the majority of the bitmaps--particularly the tabs--are in the bitmaps so if they haven't been created you are out of luck unless you want to manually create them, I suppose.

However, I noticed that many have walked before me (surprise, surprise). As as they have, they have made their own modifications to the bitmaps, added buttons, etc. But there are 514 CCFs on the site, and it is tought to remember which stuff is where when you see a bitmap that you might want to use later.

Thus, I am going to build a comprehensive gallery for this "theme" using Dale's original gallery as the starting point. I will download the CCFs that have followed in his footsteps and consolidate their fragments of originalty into one gallery...so that my own is in no way original!!

What I want to know before this day-long project is...has this been done before???

Thanks,
Matt

ps. It would be great to be able to sort the 500+ CCFs on by what category of "original design" they fall into.

I ran into the same problem. I have Photoshop,Corel, and Paint Shop Pro. I still suck at it and am not talented enough to get it right. I sent the bitmaps to friends of mine and told them what I needed them to say and they fixed them for me. :)Maybe a kind soul here could fo that for you. My friends tell me it is easier to fix them in the raster setting but I still fux them up. LOL

Matt,

I don't know if anyone has built a gallery of ALL the ccfs, but there are a few very large galleries available for download here: [Link: remotecentral.com]. It also includes an alphabet for Dales icons which you could cut and paste. I would suggest that you download Daniels ProntoIni Workshop ([Link: remotecentral.com]) and increase the allowable memory size in order to accomodate a large gallery file.

Hope this helps,
Jim L

Matt:

Many people have asked me about that font since I originally created the CCF. I couldn't find a font that met my space requirements, so I hand-lettered the characters I needed. At the time, Remote Central only had about 30 CCFs posted, and I had absolutely no idea that 16,000 people were going to end up downloading the thing.

I have since created a bitmap file that contains the characters in the various styles that I used. Several dozen people have asked for that as well. I'll be happy to email it to you if you want it.

I've learned from this experience. The color CCF that I'm about to release uses an actual TrueType font.

Thanks,
Dale

Matt,

Sound like a good idea, and a lot of work. If you go through with it, would you mind sharing the gallery?

thanks,

Zylont

Dale,

Would you tell us more about the True Type Font...where to get it, and how to use it...(?)

The font I used in my Version B CCF is Vonnes Extrabold Condensed. I actually don't know which type foundry sells it because I've had the thing on my PC for ages. TrueType fonts are just like any other Windows font: stick them in your Font directory and then you can use them.

Or maybe I'm missing the point of the question?
