Go the the forum "Flagship Receiver and Amplifier Central". They have a forum on the RX-V1 (along with many other really amazing forums...esp. the Sony TA-E9000ES forum, but I digress).

The website is:
[Link: pub7.ezboard.com]

The question you pose has been beaten to death (in that forum and elsewhere), but I don't really remember the outcome since I don't run any of my video through the RX-V1. I think someone ended up getting the answer from an engineer at Yamaha...anyway, check it out.

Incidentally, one thing the Pronto or RAV lets you do is create macros to switch video and audio in different sources at the same time. In other words, with the programmed remote you don't have to run video through your receiver...which is good because (a) it will degrade your video--some more than others, but it'll never INCREASE video quality--and (b) the vast majority of receivers (at least the ones I've heard) have a marked decrease in audio quality when running video through the component's video switching.

Crazy Toad,
I run it (DTC-100) through it (Yam 800) both DirecTV and OTA (Hi Def). Works fine. I'm sure the comment above about not making it better is true (entropy and all that) but I've compared side-by-side direct connect versus through the receiver and I can't tell a difference. Maybe other people can. HNick
