I posted a msg a fw days ago concerning an 'infinite reboot' on a Pronto Pro. I tried connecting through the windows terminal app, and could not 'break in' with the ESC key, but I did see the same strings of code and messages scroll by time after time. After speaking with Philips, and actually having the guy tell me that the engineers did not have phones, and that his supervisor would not take a phone call (I was wanting to speak with SOMEBODY who knew what they were talking about), he told me that a corrupted file in the remote voided the warranty, and they could not accept it back. He said there is no known way to totally reset the memory and dump programming. I find this hard to believe, and even asked what the three gold dots just above the battery terminal were, thinking they were some sort of diagnostic probe contact points, and he said they were there for no purpose whatsoever. Anyway....HELP!

Not that I can help but when I first found this forum I read a post similar to yours with Phillips telling the poster the same thing. I have the same remote so I can only imagine how that makes you feel.

can you try posting on here what you see (the strings and messages). Someone might recognize what is happening and come up with the answer
...

Did Philips tell you that their engineers work out of their garages? Saves on overhead.

They pay their own utilities, too.

This is usually fixed by upgrading to ProntoProdit 3.4 and then downloading the associated firmware.

Well, with one more try, the firmware update did the trick. Initially, I had posted my message AFTER trying the firmware update, but the problem then was that the remote was continuously rebooting AS I was trying to upload the firmware. The 2nd time around, it looked like the same thing was going to happen, but it interrupted the reboot cycle, and uploaded w/o a hitch.
