I have a Marantz RC5000 and a PACE Active Digital box over here in the UK (Telewest). My RC5000 will not work with the PACE box. Apparently this is because the Digibox uses "IRDA 1.x standards". Is there any way around this? I don't need to use all of the Active services, channel up and down would do for now!

In explaining please remember I am no techie!

Thanks for any help.

Just about all there is to know about this problem is covered in this thread:

I've given up and got a TiVo. This works beautifully with the Telewest STB and I can use my Pronto to control the TiVo. Now my STB is just used as a tuner and I've got all of the many advantages of TiVo. I can't live without my TiVo now.

I agree. The only devices that seem to be able to control the Pace 1000 & 2000 boxes used by some of the UK digital cable networks is the One-for-All range (mosaic and I think some of the others), and the TIVO.

I bought a TIVO last weekend. I also have NTL digital cable (Pace 2000). TIVO is superb! It has its own electronic guide and learns the types of TV you like to watch. You never have to set a VCR again!

The Pace cable box adaptor arrived today and it works perfectly.

I haven't got a Pronto yet - held out for ages to see if any solutions arrived. I didn't like the One-for-All Mosaic. Now I'm saving up to get a Pronto.
