I'd like to purchase this gadget but dont want to have the same problem that i have with the kenwood remote... takes a couple seconds to turn on the display (very very annoying). is it instant on or damn close to instant or does it take a couple seconds ?

thanks

Pobrecito!

How busy IS your life that 2 seconds is the deciding factor in purchasing a Remote Control?
I mean....really, is it gona kill ya to miss 2 seconds of that I Love Lucy rerun?

Book 'im, Danno....for being annoying in his own right!

With a Pronto, booting is something that happens rarely. Like when you change batteries.

Sounds like you mean how long does it take to activate. Activation is close enough to instant. But if you have followed another thread these week, you will see that, if idle for more than 5 minutes, it takes 1.5 seconds after pressing a button for IR to transmit.

myself i like to quickly grab a remote and change sound level, channel, etc. the kenwood remote superior to the others is a brilliant example that i prefered quick changes (cheap remotes) to having to wait for it to boot up (kenwood). so are you saying the pronto does take a couple ?

thanks peter the info you provided sounds like it will work fine. i dont mind having the delay to send after it sits for 5 mins.

thanks

Like Petey said...

"Booting" takes a while. Activation is almost instantaneous unless left idle for 5 or so minutes, then it takes 1.5 or 2 seconds to "light up".

Just to throw my 2 cents in. The Marantz versions don't seem to display this behavior. If it's asleep for say 15 min, and I hit a hard button, the display comes on immediately and I can see the transmit icon working. This "battery saver" seems to be unique to Philips.

This is only the case in the 6000 not the 1000 or 2000

I don't understand that answer. However long I leave the remote, I touch the screen and it's ON--no delay at all. The only time its ever booted (except for after downloading a new or revised CCF), is a couple of times when I dropped it on the carpet.
