Can any one recommend a decent, user friendly book to accompany the Pronto I've been given for Christmas? Although the manual with it is quite detailed, it does tend to be full of baffling jargon to a beginner.

The FAQ on this site is almost required reading. It can be downloaded and printed out. Mikes help bar (check some of the other threads to find it) gives some great links to additional common concerns. Specific questions are usually quickly and throughly responded to in this forum. The learning curve can seem quite steep at first, the trick is to read, read, read, then mess with the software and screw-up. :D

You also need to read the ProntoEdit manual - this is on the CD. It is not the best manual, so you should download and read all other versions of the edit manual, which are much better, i.e. RCEdit, RAVEdit, ChadEdit, ProntoProEdit - just watch for the minor functional differences between models.

I didn't get any software with my Pronto so I've been onto the dealer this morning and they're putting it in the post. I'm going to download the FAQ section and then start messing up ;-)
Thanks.

Geoff,
You can download the software in the files section, just make sure to get the right version for your remote.

Click on the links in the box below, in particular you will find : the FAQ, Reviews, Play With It, Phases, Planning and ALIAS.CCF helpful when just starting out. Also, don't forget the Search Forum at the bottom of the Page. It may seem slow but it is VERY thourough and don't be mislead by the "0%" you will see on the first screen, it is only a progress marker. This message was edited by MrKlaatu on 12/27/01 11:53.23.
