Ok, my first week with a pronto and pronto edit pro. I'm have all my code pages set uo, and am starting to think about the design. It strikes me that the only think the "macro page" buys me is losing the ability to program the lowe hard buttons, as well as having a cyrptic "open" and "stop" message appear for no good reason. Am I off base in thinking I should put all my macros in device page?

BTW, the upper two "device" and "macro" icons seems less than useless. Their only purpose seems to be to screw up a well thought through activity based design.

WorkPermit,

You're essentially correct. When the Pronto was first released it was w/o software. In fact some versions of the software are still not officially supported. If you were working on the remote, not the PC, you could only program macros on the macro side. Pronto Edit made the macro side somewhat useless.

There is at least one good use for the macro side and the device icon. It can be used as a limited back function. After jumping into a macro side panel, if you hit the device icon, you will be jumped to the last device page you were at. In my ccf I have a page for lights, power, and receiver modes on the macro side. I can return to whatever device page I came from by hitting the device icon. It goes there directly, without the dropdown menu. Marginally cool.
