Okay, I've not had the necessity to use ProntoEdit for a while now as I've been fairly happy with my CCF as it was (And the wife got mad when I changed it too much too often! Heh) but I went at it a few days ago to change a few things, and seemed to have messed it up somehow..

The big problem is that I can't figure out WHY what has happened, happened.

Everything seems OK except for my Satellite page, where everthing except for my up/down left/right and select buttons has dissapeared.. The frame, the other buttons, everything.

Initially I thought I had a download problem, so I redownloaded...same thing.

I tried the CCF in ProntoEdit's emulator, and same thing - half of the panel doesn't show.

Next thing I thought is that some of the buttons must have just lost their programming, which (as I know) will cause them to not appear.

So, I checked, and everyting appears to be still there - the learned IR, and that doesn't seem to explain to me yet exactly why even the frame for that panel has dissapeared as well.

Can someone take a look at my CCF (No laughing, it's a real collage of CCF's I got mostly from here, not a whole lot of customization..Hehe) and see if they can figure out what's up, or what I'm apparently missing?

I can be contacted via email at [email protected]

Thanks everyone.. My wife is missing the Pronto, beleive it or not..

Here's what I see:

Tape - Panel 1 - Device & Lights - No action programmed

Same with DVD panels 1 & 2

Same with CD panel 1 - Also with drawer open button

Satellite - I see what you mean by missing frame, but everything's there in "Learn" mode. That usually happens when there is no action programmed. There do appear to be "learned" actions programmed, however, so I think there may be a problem with the codes. Somehow they got corrupted. I would put the Pronto in learn mode and re-teach it all codes that either don't work or don't display.

Also you have three tabs in your satellite panels, but only two panels. Where is the panel for the "TV" tab?

Hi Joel;

I know that there are a bunch of broken links in the CCF.. As a result of being peiced together, some panels from the original CCF's used, and others not, there are a few areas where this has happened and I've just never bothered to fix it..

Alof of the device +/- buttons and the such just don't get used enough from those panels to really bother with.. Ok, I'm just lazy.

What the *big* problem is right now is the problem with the satellite panel - it's kind of useless without the rest of the buttons working, and I'm at a total loss about why it's happening.

I tried reprogramming the IR into the buttons (Both manually directly on the Pronto, and through the Pronto directly into ProntoEdit) and it doesn't seem to help - the buttons still don't appear in "Use" mode - only in "Learn" mode.

Weird. What's really bizzare is that if I completely delete the learned IR in the missing buttons, and then insert something neutral like a simple "Delay" (Which should at the very least allow the button to be visible in Use model) it's STILL not there when downloaded to the Pronto, or in ProntoEdit emulate.

Help!

I saw that last part also, because I tried to do the same thing. If you have tried re-learning the buttons direct to the Pronto from the original remote and they still don't work, then I don't think the codes are being learned. I would try to get the codes off the files section here and plug them in. OR you could go back to square one: Download "default.CCF" from the Samples sub-d, and see if you can find the codes in the Pronto UDB. If you do, save the panel as "Satellite Codes" or whatever, delete all other devices and merge to your "Mark" CCF and alias the missing buttons to codes you know work, and see if that solves the problem.

I still say the problem is corrupted codes, and it appears that Pronto is having trouble learning them,

BTW, it;s never a good idea to learn codes to Pronto Edit anyway, but especially with the problem you're having.

Hi Joel;

I kinda figured that the original remote that is sending the codes to be re-learned may be sending junk to the pronto, but the pronto (Or ProntoEdit, whichever I use) keeps reporting that the codes are being learned OK.

What really stumps me is the fact that even the frame has dissapeared in that panel.. The buttons I can understand, if the pronto feels that there is no valid action for them, but the frame, and even the tabs at the bottom that simply jump to other panels?

There's good news, however.. In surfing through my HD a few minutes ago, I found a backup of my latest CCF with everything intact.. I just DL'd it to the Pronto, and it fixed the problem.

Putting the minor changes I had made back into the now recovered CCF isn't a big deal.. I'll probably fix all those other silly broken jumps and things as well while I'm at it.

Foolishly, I saved over my old CCF when I made the changes I originally spoke about a few nights ago, and by the time I realised something was wrong it was too late to just go back to my old CCF.

I'm starting to think that it's a corruption issue with the CCF in question, or something.

Weird.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Mark I've looked at your problem and found your solution the panel that is missing has been moved to the back to fix this in PE open the sat-main page, double click the missing frame (the whole frame)select the font to "none" click apply then OK. I hope this helps

Good work, Bob. That did indeed fix the problem.

Thanks Rob;

That's the problem indeed..

Once I found the backup, this whole quest became a question of satisfying my need to know exactly *why* that old CCF was doing what it was..

Sheesh, ProntoEdit can be confusing sometimes.. Why it allows you to add a font-type to a frame is beyond me, I'm sure that countless others have had this same experience. :-)

All is well in the world again, and the wife is happy not having to fumble with 4 remotes anymore.. :-)

The font is there to allow you to put text on the frame.

What PE does not like is a frame with a font but no text - the whole frame does not show. It is similar to a button with no action not showing.
