I was just wondering what you guys did to take care of your screen? Do you ever clean it, and if so with what, how, and how often? I didnt know if this was a big deal or not, just something that ran across my mind.

Andy,

I don't use any solvents/cleaners. Occasionally, I'll very lightly moisten a rag. The two best tips I've seen here are 1) use the back of a fingernail to touch the screen (really cuts down the popcorn buttered fingerprints) 2) put a button on your ccf that jumps to mousemode -- you can then wipe the screen without activating buttons. When your done hit the backlight and you're returned to the last device screen.

Some people like to put plastic protectors on the screen. They make them for PDA's. I tried it and didn't like it. Cut down on the visability IMHO. Your mileage may very.

(Sorry Anthony)

DO NOT USE A PAPER TOWEL.

Paper is made from wood pulp. You probably remember that wood is a fairly hard substance. This will SCRATCH your screen.

Always use a soft cloth, your girlfriend's T-Shirt or a clean pair of socks. I think you get the point.

As to solvents, I'm undecided, but if you DO decide to use them, NEVER spray them on the screen, spray them on the rag/T-Shirt/sock and then use that to wipe the screen.

Just my $0.02.

scotch tape works wonders for pulling fingerprints off the screen.

Andy,

It's a jump command on the actionlist for a button. It's supposed to allow you to control a wireless keyboard (I think). It throws up a screen to turn on mousemode, when you do the screen will not respond to being touched until you press the backlight key. Handy for cleaning.

That's the beauty of the leather cover. I still don't care for the look, but it does keep greasy fingers off the screen. Then all you have to do is remove the cover and clean the plastic. You could also try putting saran wrap over the screen and then replacing it every once in a while.

Mouse mode turns your Pronto into a track pad. the full screen is used for tracking, and the two buttons as the mouse buttons. It was built to be used with an IR receiver that Philips used to be bundled with an IR keyboard.
