the problem that i am having is that after i capture an ir code in setup i can't change the name for good am i missing something? any help would be appreciated.

It is a bug in the software, as in RCEdit, and other software.
Try cutting the ir code and pasting it back in the same place again. The name will stay, if you do this. At least this is the solution I found to work with RCEdit.

The name of a code should never be important unless you are learning IR Codes into macros which is not the best way to set up your CCF. Always use aliases in macros.
