If you want your Sony CD Changer to operate like a Jukebox, that is where you can scroll through a list of every song in your collection and simply touch it and have it added to the program list (up to 31 Tracks) then hit play and Viola! A completely automated setup that enters all the keys for you.

OK here is the setup I am using for direct "Play List" access to add songs to the Program feature on a Sony 400 Disc Changer (CDP-M555ES) and a Phillips Pronto TSU2000 with SuperNudeList program.

Example: for Disc #125 on my D1 Panel

[B] CD-Keypad-Disc
[B] CD-Keypad-1
[B] CD-Keypad-2
[B] CD-Keypad-5
[B] CD-Keypad-+10 (this must be combined with the command below in a hidden panel)
[B] CD-Keypad-0/10 (See above)

Then have these following options selected on SNL's Players "Edit Player" CD panel
Before Disc=Disc
After Disc= +10 and 0/10 (must make a hidden panel with both of these commands)
Before Track (1 Digit)= Nothing
Before Track (2 Digits)= +10
After Track (1 Digit)= Nothing
After Track (2 Digits)= Nothing
Note: Hide a +10 Button on all Track page #2 (songs 11 and above) also modify the [Alphebet] panel on the SNL CD List to have the following buttons

1 Program
2 Clear
3 Check
4 Continue

This will allow you to go right to any single digit Track # without doing anything else and it will be entered into the Program. As Long as you select a Single Digit first you can then go to Double Digit Track #'s with no further modification (Providing that you have the +10 entered before all double digit Tracks), However if you wish to enter a Double Digit Track First, or only a Double Digit Track then you must then Press the added hidden +10 button to clear the 0/10 key which is the last key entered in the above example.

Summery:
To use simply go to the Alphabet panel on SNL and select the "Program" button then brows through the List as normal and select up to 31 songs then you can Jump back to the Alphabet Panel and use the check button to check the list if you wish, or clear to start a new list there are 3 lists available so you can just go to a new one if you would like to save a list to play again. When your done simply press Play and enjoy.

Here is where you get SNL if you don't already have it.

Do you have a copy of a ccf with your idea implemented?
Thanks,

MKeith,

The CX450's remote has a similar feature implemented quite nicely. It provides the capability to store up to 8 32 step programs in the remote and at the touch of a single button, have that playlist downloaded to 'Program 1' of the player. I've got a Visual Basic program which reads my SNL disc list and allows me to build a playlist of any discs. I then generate a CSF which is compiled with CCFTools to a CCF. This CCF contains a single button which can be merged into your current CCF, decorated with your favorite button image/text, then used.

With the capabilities of the Pronto, the number of playlists is not limited to 8 as it is with the CX450 remote. I mentioned a post by AKilgore earlier to you. Did you take a look at it?

I must admit that your mechanism using SNL is quite attractive (generating playlists on the fly). However, I must also state that my CCF contains 2 lists, 1 for CD's and 1 for DVD's. I have around 500 CD's online and 300 DVD's online. Your approach requires creating separate devices for CD's (1 list for normal play and 1 list for programming). I have to ask you if you feel that this approach is memory friendly? How often does your playlist change? Does it depend on your mood or do you have a preferred set of songs depending on your mood? If your answer is "rather infrequently", I'd be willing to get you set up with a 'beta' version of my program. I already have 2 other users who have it up and running.

This program will also build a CCF from your SNL lists which can be used to download disc names, artist names (max of 200 supported by Sony Changers) and link each disc with the artist. Basically, when I make global changes to my SNL lists, I kick out 2 CCF's which I then download and use to set up my CD Changers. I no longer have to hook a keyboard to the front of either changer.

Wow, your setup is far more complex than mine, it sounds like you are creating a list and downloading it to the remote every time you change your Program.

The way mine works now:

All I do is select Program 1, 2 or 3 then start selecting songs then hit play and it starts the program play, if you want to add songs while the program is playing then just pick the disc and song and it will put it at the end of the list (up to 32 steps) so in a sense it's just like a Commercial CD Jukebox. I never play the same Program Twice, and if you want direct Track access without using the program function then you simply cancel the Program function by pressing the Continue button twice to get you back to the All Disc's Mode and select the track you want and it will go directly to it. So far it's been working very well except for one glitch (explained below).

If you have the Sony CDP-CX450 CD Changer then it is the same functionally as mine, but I believe you are accessing the Program feature that is available only through the supplied 2-Way remote which has 8 Program List's. This type of program uses the Remotes memory and Sony's generated Play List(via Control A1 II), but I guess that's what your setup does, if I understand your setup correctly you use a Visual Basic program and some kind of compiler to mimic the same thing the Factory 2-way remote does with the Sony supplied play list (via A1 II Link). The standard "Creating a program using the remote" method according to the Sony Manual is to select Program 1 2 or 3 then select Disc followed by the corresponding digits for the disc you want, then >10 (or 10+ as I call it) which will end the Disc select function and start the Track select function, (hitting enter will enter the whole disc into the Program), then the first track entered must be a 2-digit # since the last key entered was a 10+ so if you select track 14 no problem, but if you want to select track 4 then you must enter a 0/10 key followed by 4 key.

The one Glitch:

What I am doing and still trying to perfect is a SNL Program that can be changed in just seconds, and will work with minimal button pushing regardless of rather you select one or many track's off any disc in any order.

The problem with my current SNL setup is that you need to select a single digit Track first before you can enter a double digit track on the same disc, if you do everything works perfectly, you can select any # of tracks in any order once the first single digit track has been entered, however if you wish to select a double digit track first then it will enter the two digits as two separate single digit track's in the list.

The only work-around I can find is a little cumbersome compared to my previous version. The only way I can get the SNL list to work with a 10+ track selected first is to have only the 10+ button entered after the Disc # (removing the custom panel with the 10+ and 0/10 button) and to remove the 10+ button before all two digit tracks, then you must have a 10+ button at the top of each SNL track panel that has 10+ tracks on it and a 0/10 button on all SNL track panels that have tracks 0-9 on them. If you have a track panel that has tracks 1-10 on it you must add both (10+ and 0/10) buttons to the top of the panel.

The new procedure would be if entering a 10+ track first then you need only to select the double-digit track and then any additional double digit track's you must first hit the 10+ button that was added at the top of all SNL Track panels, if you select a single digit track after one or more double digit tracks then you need only to select the single digit track.

Now if you want to select a Single Digit track first you must select the 0/10 key that has been added to the top of all SNL 0-9 Track panels followed by the desired single digit track, then you may select any additional single digit tracks without the 0/10 key, but you still must use a 10+ button before any double digit tracks.

What the hell was Sony thinking when they came up with this Program scheme?

If anyone would like to take a crack at this I would be glad to E-mail a copy of my ccf file.

Nope, I don't have the CX450 or a 2 way remote. The VB program I put together generates the same IR as the CX450's remote but uses a Control A1 Infrared Command which consists of a stream of bytes followed by a checksum. This is exactly what the CX450's remote generates. Using this same technique, I found tons of other available IR commands such as those to download disc/artist names and link the 2 together. Typically, I make small tweaks to my SNL stuff using a keyboard but for massive disc reorgs, I run my program and download a CCF to set up my players.
