I think I have lost the plot on these in that I thought that the jump command would be invoked only if you selected a device from the device drag down menu. however my pronto momentarily displays the 'jumped-to-screen' before going to the originally selected device screen?
How are these supposed to work? Do the aliases detail a set of 'commands' to run and is that when ever a device is selected?
Steve

Help you I would like to! Understand you I cannot. A little clearer could you be, please? 'jumped-to-screen' before I have never seen. Pronto, what kind have you? MIKE

You can have any button on the Pronto do a page jump command...
This what you mean, it is?
You simply need to change the jump pull down on the properties dialog box for any button to whatever page you wish to jump to, or none to not jump from the page on which you happen to be located in at this moment in space time.

that's kabble take it from me I know kabble lol
theendisny what I think your tryng to have answered is. the jump to is where you end up after pressing the button . the ailiasis are the codes or code you want to be exicuted when you press the button.
Example (I press the dvd button , the dvd player powers up and the tv and stereo goes to the correct inputs (ailiases) ,and the pronto jumps to the dvd control screen .
is this what you were asking about ?

Steve: like the rest, I am not sure of your question (don't drink and post :-)but from other people and posts I think it bis a seasonal problem)
Are you talking of the action list under device properties?
If yes, like you said, they happen when you use the device menu to pick your device. They take effect when you move from one device to an other, and not when you move from Home or Macro to device. The Jump will force a jump that will happen after the first part of the action list (IR, delays....) has finished. When you do an alias you are only aliasing the command part, not the jump part.
Obviously if you have a Marantz RC5000(I) things are different

Kabster and theendisnye---separated at birth?
Funny this inscrutable post coincides with the return of the fabulous Kevin!! Good to see you back, K-man. This forum was becoming far too intelligible (John Pechulis excepted).*
*Note I did not say "intelligent"!

Sorry if my message was not clear. Each device has a properties screen which have a number of tabs one of which is the action tab. On that screen you can define aliases and a jump to. I was trying to find out how and when these operated. I thought that the jump to command was invoked only if you selected a device from the device drop down menu but it had a totally different affect to what I expected.

Hmm, let me take a stab at this one.
On the Device Properties windows, there is a tab called Actions. This Actions tab contains a list of commands, and a Jump To box.
I agree with you that these are only run when that device is selected from the Device menu.
Interestingly, I have had issues with this if there are not any commands listed, so you might want to make sure that you have at least a DELAY command up there.
What I use this for: Whenever certain devices are selected (eg. DVD) then I want to make sure that the TV, DVD and AMP are turned on (discreet codes) and that they are set to the correct input (more discreet codes). After that I like to start off on the DVD main screen. So I do a JUMP TO -> DVD - Main. If I didn't do this, then selecting the DVD device from the device menu would open up the last DVD screen that was open.
Hope that this helps.

Sorry, I'm still lost on what exactly you are asking. What "jumped-to screen" are you talking about?
The aliases are commands that operate whenever you push that particular button. After those commands run, the last thing that happens is that you jump to whatever panel is indicated in your "jump" box. You do not have to have a jump--in which case the commands run, and you stay where you are until you push another button.

Joel: he is not talking about buttons, he is talking about the device properties.
Steve: What happened, and what did you expect?

Thank you for all your help Nick cracked it there is a 'feature' that means that the jump on the device propreties doesn't operate correctly if you don't have any alises. I did as suggested and added a delay and it worked fine. Thanks Steve
