having a little problem. Just got my pronto, trying to connect it to my macintosh via Virtual PC. I have a belkin usb to serial adapter.

Setup is. Mac G4 640mb RAM, Virtual PC 4.0.2.

Change settings in VPC so that com port 1 is set to usb printer port (belkin is connected to directly to usb port on mac) and 'non modem deivce' is enabled

Have gone into device manager in win98 and changed port settings to 2400 bit/sec.

can update the firmware, but it won't upload or download to the pronto, details say that it cant find it on com port 1 or 2? huh? what's going on here?

Don't know a thing about Macs . . . but have you tried a Search Forum yet?

I'm sure there is a plethora of information available.

Badger,
cool! something for us X users! don't suppose you're going to have an OS 9 version are you?

I'm going to download Tonto and give it a whirl as I have 10.1.1 installed. will let you know what I think.

It is not possible to make an OS 9 version at this time. Tonto requires Java2 and Swing which is only available in newer JVM's. OS 9 only supports 1.1.8 which is quite old.

I've tried Tonto using a Keyspan USB/high-speed serial cable to connect my G4 to the Pronto. When I try to upload the Pronto, the Mac can find the Pronto, but upload is unsuccessful (with the message "CCF Upload Failed"). Any thoughts? Has anyone else had this problem, and found a fix?

thanks,
Dan

Try increasing the comm timeouts under Preferences. Also set the debug for comm to 2. Send me the console logs if increasing the timeouts fails.

Tonto can't find my RC5000 on any port. It's connected to a Belkin USB to serial adapter. I also just tried this under VPC with RCEdit 2.3 with the same results. Also tried directly on my laptop and got an error "could not communicate" on COM1. I checked and the port was not in use by any other device.

Any ideas on what to try?

Oh, forgot to mention that I'm using Tonto under Mac OSX 10.1.2.

I noticed that the Keyspan adapter has an OSX driver. Nothing posted on the Belkin site. I think that's probably why neither VPC or Tonto can see the RC5000.

That was it. Ran VPC under OS 9.2 and everything worked fine. I've put in a request for an OSX driver from Belkin. I'm sure they'll get right on it. :(

I'm using the OS X driver for the Keyspan USB/hi-speed serial, but still can't upload from my Pronto tsu2000 to Tonto. Tried adjusting timeouts but still no go. Do some Prontos interface better than others with computers? I'm running out of options. If this doesn't work I may need to buy VPC. Has anyone had success with the Pronto 2000/Keyspan usb-serial adapter/latest VPC/Mac OS 9.1 or 9.2?

thanks,
Dan
