I have an AC and it's remote has an LCD screen which can display the current temperature settings on the remote. Two buttons on the remote ( temp +, and temp -) can varies the temperature up or down. Each time I press the temp+ or temp- button, the remote will display the temperature increasing or decreasing by one. I created the temp+ and temp - on the pronto, which works fine, but one problem is that I have no idea what the temperature setting is if I change temp with my Pronto. You guys have any ideas on how can I create buttons that when each time I press the temp+ or temp- button, the Pronto will display the corresponding temperature increasing or decreasing by one? Thanks.

Do you always have the same fixed starting point? or could you?

The starting point when I turn on is the temp setting when I turned off. Say I set temp at 25c and I turn the AC off, the next time I turn the AC on temp will be set at 25c. If I decrease temp to 23c and turn the AC off, the next time I turn on temp will set to 23c. Doesn't have a fixed starting point.

Hi Jeff...

I figured that part out, and my question was not as clear as it should have been.

I realize that your pluses and minuses 1's would change the next starting point, but if someone were to make you a routine, then they would need to know the original starting point to which the pluses and minuses would be added.

Have a single device with a separate panel for each temperature that you might want to use, say 18 through to 25. On each panel have an up and down button, which transmits the IR and also jumps to the corresponding temperature panel.

Now go and look at what the temperature is on the remote.

With the Pronto aimed away from the AC, advance to the correct panel.

Place your AC device in the Macros group, with all your other devices in the Device group. Then whenever you select the AC device from the Macros menu, it will show the last panel you displayed.

If it ever gets out of sync, go to the correct temperature panel as per above.

Try downloading this CCF.

[Link: remotecentral.com]

It contains a CCF I did for a client of mine, that has on-screen temp feedback. It may not be the exact codes your looking for, but you can pick it apart to see how it works.

Jeff: don't forget, that what ever you built, it might need readjusting now and again. (if you press +/- and not pointing, if there are buttons on the AC and someone uses them.....).

there are a few other things you can try
1) use a bar graph like volume on a TV, |||||||||| that way precision is not as bad as giving an exact temp.
2) assuming there is an absolute max/min create a macro for each division (if you are on the colder half add enough +'s to go to the max and then enough -'s to get to the wanted temp. (or vice versa)
...

I experimented with Peter's advice. It does work, but in my Pronto config I have a remote menu, where I can choose which remote I want to use, in the device group. I added an AC button in the remote menu and when I choose AC from the remote menu it'll jump to the AC control panel in the macro group. *It can only jump to the same panel all the time* Since each AC panel are set to specific temp, 18-25, so when I jump from the remote menu it'll jump to the same AC panel in macro group all the time. Say I set the AC button in the remote menu to jump to AC panel that had 20c. Each time I choose AC in remote menu, I'll jump to that 20c panel all the time eventhough if I last turned off my AC at 28c and it'll be out of sync. Still looking into it. Let me check out John's CCF too. Thank you all very much for your help.

Hey John,
I unzipped the file and when I tried to run it on Pronto Edit I got "File is not a valid Pronto configuration" message.
